Hi Mk1,

you asked, and i will help of course. As you certainly know, france has a special position in the NATO. So, " cold war " was mainly a german problem ( remember the strength of the " westgruppe " of ussr army ).
The french locos are nice BUT due to differences in electric systems of SNCF and DB only some special locos of both sides had been able to cross the " frontiers ".

So DB locos ( pics are everywhere in the net ) would be the right choice for " cold war trains " :D

So let me ask something : are detailed models of tanks, trucks, guns figures really neccessary ? No !. So, u are not interested in the trains as models, but then you can ask : why models in general ?

And that´s the point : ghq´s are not only wargame accessories, but also highly detailed models ( look at all these wonderful paintjobs, not really neccessary for " simple " wargaming ). And i guess, it would look really great, trains .
And armored trains played sometimes a very important role, for example in defending stations, bridges, covering the retreat, protection of supply lines. And all these supply duties, done by the trains...

So trains on the board would make the scenery look more realistic, they are wonderfull models and a very usable add on for many already existing ranges.

So perhaps there are some who think : i don´t need detailed orthodox churches or figures with paintable eyebrows, but they EXIST

So trains should be part of the great ghq family :D

Vac-U-Cast

Post by Kaoschallenged1 »

I just recieved the Vac-U-Cast Russian Armored Locomotive 1942 in the mail yesterday. When put next to my GHQ and CinC minis it is HUGE!! LOL. Im a little confused though. Is it a Russian or German Locomotive? The pic on the website shows it with German markings. Also heres some sites I have found on armored trains that I found interesting. Robert

The Finns used them too during the Winter and Continuation wars. IIRC the Italians in Russia used a captured Russian Armored train too. Robert
