Thought I would post a link to photos from our Winter 41-42 East Front game. Forces consisted of a small Soviet force that was representing the remnants of a breakthrough group. KV-1s with some Winter infantry and a flanking group of BT-8s and more infantry. Germans were grouped around a section of 150mm inf guns, an 88mm and 37mm AA. A couple of Pak 35s and some security troops were dug in around a small village. The pics have captions.

You should be able to access through the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen. Let me know if that doesn't work. I don't believe you have to register, just click on the thumbnails. I thought this would be a more effective way to post lots of pics then including a few in each message.

There is no access to any of your pictures, but the first pair of fighters, through this site unless you go through the registration process. There are no thumbnail pictures. There are only ways to purchase pictures on coffee mugs, etc...

Unless the visitor is a registered member of the kodak site they can not access your pictures...

I've been using a ground sheet in either green ,brown or white depending on the season. In this case it was a white sheet that has some light overspray of grey, brown or tan. Tthe sheet goes over some styrofoam hills and I then use brown and tan pastels to color in some roads and slopes. After putting trees, hedges, buildings and field emplacements on that, I then liberally dusted the whole thing with a white powder. This time I tried a plaster of paris-esque material. Could've been interesting if someone spilled something. I've used a talc powder before-smelled babyfresh. You have to wear a mask to clean up. It looks cool, but is a pain. I wouldn't try it at a convention.

I too am extremely impressed by your approach to making the winter board. Now I have to do one myself! Not as ifI don't already have enough unfinished micro-armor projects in my to-do box!

But that board, that game, looks absolutely irresistable. How can I say I war-game the Eastern Front without every having done a game like that?!?

As to your "white powder" ... have you ever tried baking soda or corn starch? Just wondering if something that sells as a foodstuff might be a little less of a worry during clean-up.

We assumed that the Russkies had outrun their artillery coverage, so no offboard batteries available.
Our biggest problem as a group is getting enough bodies together for a game. I usually have more units ready to put on the table if we get some more players. In this case we only had 3 people. Forces were divided among the Soviets at a weak inf coy and tank coy apiece. I played the Germans since their forces were already placed on the board in improved positions. 20 pieces/units per person is about the max limit for a fun game that can be played to a conclusion in around 3 hours.
I was actually hoping that maybe we can get some more folks in the Atlanta area involved who might be lurking on this site. Sure beats the beetles-mating games that I've seen much too often. We've actually put on some nice games at our local Hobbytown to attract gamers.

Rules are a homebrew that have been fermenting for years. Still need some work.
"Sunny Italy" is an inside joke to my old gaming group in Florida. The only Italian scenario game that we played was during a very untypical cold snap with the temps hovering around freezing. In those days we played at my buddies' parents house out on their screened in porch. We can't remember anything about that game except the shivering done by the participants.
