Beating the winter blues?

Post by fullmetaljacket »

Hello all

Not been real active on any gaming fronts in the past month or so. Cant beat the winter blues and i cant get upstairs and do the modeling i need to get done before Little Wars in April. dont worry JB i iwill have them done in time. Any suggestions from you all out there when it seems you just cant get motivated to do any projects at this time of year?

I really looking forward to this weekend of playing the battle of Midway in wisconsin with JB and several others.

Winter Blues

I agree starting a new project always yanks me out of the doldrums. I just received a batch of Casspir's, Buffels, RG-32's and Mambas from the other manufacture and a group of oliphant mark1's (centurions) from GHQ and am looking forward to painting yet another addition to my growing SADF force. Ill post pics of course when they are ready for public veiwing. Gotta tell ya tho I wish GHQ would make these; the ones i have are incredible and knowing GHQ"S quality they could only get better!

A Passionate customers rant follows:

please consider the african conflicts further so many amazing SADF vehicles and opponents could only make a great line of miniatures better

end rant.

thanks guys I have been thinking on working on my 1/2400th scale World War one fleet. Some day i would like to almost do a 1 to 1 scale for jutlend. I also have been tinkering with my 1/72 scale armor. But my tiger company is almost complete and will get it done in the next week or so, then i need to finish up my last two T-34 battilons.

I know how you feel. But I've been too motivated, except on everything else that should get done. I still need to tag all those Japanese ships for Saturday, get the aircraft into a system that works better(so we don't have those little critters lying about afterwards),Tie up the loose ends on all the ship Damage Sheets,Oh and figure out how to get this campaign type thing running smoooooth. The only thing that worries me is you guys not even seeing the rules. I know you can figure them out, they are fairly simple, but I just hate wasting an hour s worth of time.
BTW,Lance and I have figured out the US plan. Did you do anything like that yet?

My problem is that there is no winter. I do alot of outdoors stuff and the winter here in Texas is actually the best time to camp and be in the field. Keeps the belly off.

The best thing for me is to have a deadline. Like premering a unit for a specific game. And of course a good war movie. WW2? Band of Brothers Marathon or A Bridge Too Far, Hamburger hill or Gettysburg. 2 of these are 4 hours by the end of the movie I have alot done.

I also keep certain jobs for different moods. When I'm too tired and shakey for painting I'll weather, black wash or put steel tape on my stuff or maybe cut bases for when I get the infantry finished.
I pray for Peace on Earth Good will toward men. Till then one round HE fire for Effect!

Hey Fullmetaljacket!
:D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D  :D
(happy, happy, joy, joy...)

The winter blues - coupled with a strike and no paycheck...yes this last week has been a bit blue! :?

I too find inspiration in others work and projects. I try and only do one project at a time but this doesn’t always work out as planned! Many half-started and half-finished projects littering the workbench!

My best motivator is a deadline but I always find I do my best work when inspired from within. When the urge takes me, all other things (wife, TV, Computer games, FOOD!!) fall by the wayside. Sometimes these ‘urges’ coincide with a day off and I can paint/model all damn day!

Coffee helps!
