Modern Italian Army

Post by thetourist »

Ok I may be grasping at straws here but with the current GHQ interest in Modern Chinese, Vietnam and so on, I do not see them coming out with any modern italian kit. So the question is this, is the British Challenger I a suitable replacement for the Arieta? How about the MCV 80 for the Italian IFV? Help!

This is an interesting issue.
For the AIFV, Dardo IFV I have used the hull of C(other guys) and the turret of the GHQ MCV80. I did this years ago before the Dardo was in production, so it did not have the missle tubes.

For Ariete MBT, I have some crappy Abrams hulls & turrets that are at least 20+ years old and produced by some one that I am sure does not exist. My guess is that I should put some 'netting' over the turret to hid the lack Ariete detail. Possilbly use Leopard 2 hull from C(other guy) and file the exhaust/cooling fan away, along with crappy abrams turret and camoflauge.

For the Centauro 8X8 tank destroyer, I have used some LAV hull with the French F-4 turret from C*** on the VBC 90 or ERC 90 F4. I snipped the end of the barrel. It is not a great representation. Possible option is use South African Rooikat either hull or turret with the above, although not high enough.

For the Fiat/Oto Melara Type 6616, can use V-100/150 hull and LAV 25 turret without smoke dischargers.

Do not have an idea for the Type 6614 APC, nor the Puma 6X6.

Let me know your thoughts.
