After reading this thread - this question may seem like bad form, so apologies in advance.
If I wanted to remove the searchlight from my M60A1 ( GHQ N501) to make them look a little more IDF-1973-like, are there any tips to prevent me destroying turrent, barrel etc.
Is there anything I can do to make it easier to slice off?
thanks

I haven't noticed the thermal shield on my A3's but then I got out of the Marines while we still had the A1's. ( mIne are pictured on "Show us yer stuff") When I bought my A3's they were the only offering for that tank at the time and I wasn't about to do the other guys for my Marines. So I never saw the real life A3 up close.
I would never turn that spot lite on in combat. Only an idiot or someone who wants to commit suicde would do that. The heat signature shows up like a beacon on IR for several minutes after it is turned off and visibly glows through the canvas cover for several minutes as well.
You may as well put "shoot me" in neon lights and drive across the desert.

The models you have maybe older ones. I have packs marked M-60A3 and they don't have the thernal shield on the main gun (these are rather old castings however, they are on the yellow cards). Not to long ago I ordered some packs of M-^0A3s and they certainly are better models and they have the thermal shield on the main gun and the TC's cupola is a seperate piece.
For USMC I would assume you would be interested in the M-60 with the reactive armor.
Foer me I am hopleslly stuck in the Cold War

Your probably right about me having very old M60's. I bought them in 1984ish. My old M60A1 was purchased in 1980. They and my T62 Bn are the oldest and most battle tested units. They are on page 101 of Show us your stuff.
