M-48 for IDF
Which M-48 is more suitable for IDF - the new one (N516) or the old (N17) ?

I'm not an expert but if you reference http://www.israeli-weapons.com/israeli_ ... icles.html I think you'll find that the older version is a marginally better fit. It depends a great deal on what time frame you want to look at since the Israelis were quite skilled at adapting new features such as the lower sillouhette Urdan cuploa which GHQ does not provide. The old pack at least gives you the option of 105mm or 90mm gun. The new pack, while a better cast provides a commander's cupola which I think is probably not usable in IDF service plus its 90mm gun only.
Again, I'm no expert and others probably have better data.

M48 for IDF
Since this thread references Urdan cupolas -
The GHQ M60A1 N501 has a detachable HMG cupola, any suggestions for an alternate GHQ cupola that would approximate an Urdan cupola?
Thanks in advance

M-48
I would like to see GHQ just do an Israeli M-48. I was one that asked for a new updated M-48 with the idea that they could do an Israeli version for the '67 and '73 wars. I would also like the earlier Israeli M-60A1 as well for the '73 war. I understand there may be some differences in the number of return rollers on some versions of the M-48 and I want to be sure that GHQ does the right version for their Israeli M-48.

M-48
Hi Steel Arrows
I am aware that there are other manufacturers for the M-48. I was not specifically aware that one of the other manufacturers(not to be named) made the Israeli version but it is not surprising. Having said that, I will continue to lobby GHQ for an Israeli M-48 since they have spoiled me with their superb detail. Unless I know GHQ is never going to do one, I can wait a while since I have lots of other projects to complete first. Thanks for letting me know. I do hope GHQ will do one in the near future.

pmskaar,
Since GHQ reworked the M48A2 90mm Vietnam. Hopefully they rework the M48A5 with urdan low profile cupola with an option to have the .50cal cupola turret like the M60A3s. I hope they will with the rework of the urdan a .30cal pintle mount which the Israeli's commonly mounted on their M48s, early M60A1s and Ti-67(captured T-54/55s).
As for early models of the M48 which I wish to be created. The M48A1s with the flat engine deck powered by a gasoline power plant before the deisel varients. Many of these model were used by Pakistan, Spain, France, Germany, S. Korea, Turkey, Portugal and US Marines and Army during the 50s. The muzzle breaks would differ. The T-Shape or the vented straight tubes.

M-48
Hi Steel Arrows
I am in total agreement with you on that. The new, re-worked M-48 is a beautiful model and does come with a separate cupola as does the M60A1. Since many western armies had some version of the M-48 in their inventories it would be great to see the various major versions of this very common tank. I only hope GHQ can update their
T-62 at some point as well. The one they have is from the 1970's and their sculpting standards have long surpassed the one that they currently offer.

pmskaar,
T-62 and T-62A are great candidate for reworks. As well as T-72/74. For T-62 series ERA(T-62MA) and Horseshoe armor(T-62E). Syria and North Korea use updated models. No. Korea has a T-62 with a 125mm gun like T-64,72,80. Still alot with 115mm.
As for T-72/74. ERA blocks like T-72BM. Yes GHQ has T-90 which is advance model of T-72BM. Still an ERA block varient for early 1980s and 1990s forces would be very nice. Iran's T-72s are ERA block protected as well as their T-55s.
While on the subject. Isreali M48s and M60s of the 1980s with ERA block would be a geat transformation for them as well.
