Late War German Infantry

I like the look of both groups of German ground pounders. Today, I think many of us forget that the German combat soldier took a brutal beating and still gave back plenty.
We can kid about crutches and other things but how would you have like to be in their shoes (probably without soles) fighting for their very lives against an enemy that gave no quarter (just as the Germans did during Barbarossa and since)? Has anyone in this esteemed group served in the infantry?

Though I was in the Navy, I fought as a ground-pounder in 'Nam. - Don't ask for specifics, I won't tell - the old "I may neither confirm or deny" routine. But yes, I can feel for the German infantry as well as Allied infantry - & I still despise the Russian infantry. (just personal prejudice) I don't think the U.S. (today) would handle itself as well & rally to the call if we were placed in a similar position.

I served 4 years in the Infantry. 2 years with the 1/7th Infantry 3rd Infantry Division. 2 years with the 1/5th Cavalry 1st Cavalry Division. Any other infantry out there?

I happen to have worked with a couple of guys that were with the Canadian Army based in Ontario I do believe. When I worked with them back in '05-'06, they said that they have buddies doing a tour in Afghanistan. I also happen to be with friends who are and were in the Canadian Army...the one buddy is no longer but I think he was in it back in the mid-late 80's (don't quote me on that) and the other one just joined last year.
I tried to get in before in the past, but I because I wear glasses and am near sighted (things are clearer when closer) I was told that wouldn't be good if they broke as I can't see far distances without them. So I never continued...however if I was far sighted...that would have been a different story.

On the other hand, my buddy Darren, who was in the army, is very good when it comes to wargaming...that damned tactical mind of his...lost many FoW rounds to him.

"Troops in late war smock uniforms, mostly armed with Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifles:
some figures are carrying the Kar89k; others tote PanzerFaust 100s.

The perfect support for the G541 infantrymen, this pack includes troops in
camouflage smock, late war webgear and:

prone light machine gunners firing a MG42 with drum magazine
2 man crew with tripod mounted MG42
2 man crew with kz 8cm Grenatenwerfer 42 (mortars)
officers, NCOS, and forward observers
kneeling flamethrower operators
loaders toting boxes of MG ammunition
men advancing carrying an MG42"

Just crossposting a post from GHQ in the "Wehrmacht '47 is here" thread...

We have had a couple small delays with the infantry and the Free supplement, but both are back on track now. The infantry is in scale with the rest of our infantry, they are not slightly larger like the US paratroopers.

Seeing as I have units that are all sept 1944 onwards, this is great news! Round out the German infantry with some assault teams, and all of compatible scale. Cool stuff! One pack spread over a battalion or 2 won't upset the balance too much...

...for your service. I was fortunate to have been in air defense artillery and was discharged in 1977. I know the comments made on this site are just in good fun but Memorial Day will be here before we know it and many are still dying for our freedom.
I reallylike the German late war infantry and know they would have been tough nuts to crack (to coin a phrase).
