I too can vouch for Panzer Wars as the best for the details of battle (projectile vs armor).
The one caution I have is for us big board 1:1 gamers - the ranges are not 1:1 scale. The ranges are in "game scale units" which must be doubled to become "real range in meters". A royal pain in the *ss!!!!
