I heard some rumblings about this guy and his posts before. But since I've never really gotten deep into any historical/military fora, I didn't know it was that big. I saw some people talking about it and posting up their interpretations of what this guys fictional "M113 Gavin" must look like, and ended up with a number of vehicles looking a lot like the M50 Ontos or some other such odd looking contraption.
Edit: wow this guy was a nutter.
Mike Sparks vs M-21 Sniper, email debate
M-21: 1. A tracked vehicle is never going to run
with a road wheel blown off like a stryker/LAV will.
MS: a. What blows off road wheel in Stryker mangles it and the otherwheels alongside it.
b. WHAT ABOUT THE FACT THAT ITS WHEELED IT GOT YOU
BLOWN UP IN THE FIRST PLACE?
M-21: 2. A tracked vehicle is never going to match the
on-road performance of a wheeled vehicle.
MS: WRONG. With band tracks M113 Gavins are faster than
Stryker trucks on roads, too.
WHY DO WE WANT TO BE ON ROADS ANYWAY?
PS, Sorry for temporarily hijacking your thread, mate. I'll shut up now.
Its a sniper rifle, not a "sniper"! You don't call an assault rifle an "assault"!

Hi tanitatt, never a tough crowd here. Always in fun and lots of help to be found.
I'm doing my own defense review of sorts this weekend and may have some NATO types and helo's to go.
5 Chally 1 IMP for sure (no UK force in my plans).
Depends how the beer flows and what I decide to go with this year.
I'll let you know.

The US Army has never called the M113 anything other than the M113. Ask a vet, and the only name they may come up with other than '113 is likely to be "track", or a "rolling refridgerator", or "purple heart box", or "slab-sided taxi" or some other colorful localization. Unless you find the rare PFC who has been trained by "The Military Channel", which has occasionally been sucked in to Sparky's insanity when their research has gone only so far as first level googling.
Right on target. In all my years in the Army I never heard a 113 called anything other than a "one-one-three," a "papa-charlie" or a "track."

You would be better to taunt Cthulu than to summon Sparky through using his magic name for M113 (the "track that must not be named").
Wow! How have we avoided this clown from poisoning our friendly repartee here at GHQ? Great moderatrors? Saving throws? Clean living?
Maybe he knows the knowledgable posters here would fire for effect on him and his nonsense and render him hors de combat.
Tactics are the opinion of the senior officer present.
