jagdpanzer modern?

Post by bound for glory »

most know the game JAGDPANZER. our club loved the game when it came out in the 80's. i lost my copy, and a memeber hooked me up with a copy here.
in the designers notes, the author said they planned to release a modern game called MBT. it was the same game system as jagdpanzer, but, well, for modern fighting. i saw, in the SHOW US YOUR GAMES thread people mentioned jagdpanzer was under going a revision and was soon to be released. this got me thinking about the aforementioned MBT.
i've made several attempts to log on to their message board. at any rate, it seems no one is posting there.
i don't recall what member was playing the new jagdpanzer. if you could, can you ask the game designer what has become of the modern rules? i've been wondering about it for years. thanks!

That was probably me.

I don't know the game designer. But I was one of the beta testers for the 2nd Edition of the WW2 rules.

The guy who had an active role in driving those rules is James (pagrognard on this forum, I think). He was the owner of the Yahoo! Jagdpanzer discussion group, and knows the designer and the current owner of the rules. James' Yahoo! group is now dormant, as the authors have set up their own website (just google "jagdpanzer rules" to find it).

The Version 2 Rules are available (though don't ask me where, 'cause I can't find them except through James). We will be playing them at Pacificon in Santa Clara this Saturday.

As to modern rules, I believe that the authors are quite interested in this subject, and have many good intentions. But this is a part-time effort on their parts, and it has taken more than 3 years to get this level of progress even on the V.2 WW2 rules, so one might only guess when modern rules might become available.

Best I can tell you -- even though it is precious little real information.
