Luftwaffe '47

Just curious. Considering all the beautiful painting of aircraft being done, if GHQ made a set of aircraft combat rules would anyone consider playing them? I'd like to see them flexible enough to use with 1/285 craft or Micronaught aircraft. Imagine an attack on a "Boxcar" bomber formation or an aircraft carrier.

Do you know theres a set of rules called "Luftwaffe 1946" and a couple of supplements already produced for this scale aircraft? I own them but havent tried them and apparently they are based on the Blues Skies rules. There's some great inspiration for this era even if you dont play the rules and it come with 10 scenarios and loads of aircraft stats.

No I didn't. Thanks, I'll have to look into them. The only air rules I have at the present are "Air Power" that were published by TSR Games in 1976 and "Air Combat" by Leichester Micromodels Ltd. in 1977. Decent at the time they were published.

I believe that 'Luftwaffe 1946' draws on a comic book series as the background (Though I'm not certain) - regardless, the background seems pretty poorly thought out and doesn't stand up to much scrutiny. I haven't tried the rules system though, so I'm not sure how well they play.
There are plenty of miniatures airwargame rules around though (Check your 6 seems popular at the moment, to name just one); while most don't include 'Wehrmacht 47' type aircraft (if that's where your interest lies), in most cases, it should be possible to generate your own stats for aircraft not included (and Allied 'W47' types might be found listed under Korea War aircraft listings), though some do include 'W47' type aircraft (AN Other manufacturer, who produce 1:285 aircraft minis which I think complement rather than compete with GHQ, have a free downloadable set of air rules which include 'W47' types).

Crikey! Times have changed and most rules cover Luft46-47 gaming now days. I also play Scramble and CY6 and Scramble has a lot of what if planes but CY6 doesnt have many as the aircraft stats are scenario/book driven.

The supplements are called Luftsturm (Defense of the Reich Supplement) and Amerika
(Bomber Supplement)

The luftwaffe 1946 rules are for larger games usually involving 12 planes per side.
