True, bu ttere were various tripods for MG 34 and 42

The one used for the Handbook was the lightest one at 14,9 lbs. Adding the 26,9 lbs of the MG34 you get the 42 lbs. The one shown on page VII-8 of the hanbook weights much more than this.

However the dedicated tripod was the Lafette 34 that alone weighted 52 lbs.
For the MG 42 there was the dedicated Lafette 42 of 45 lbs. (the 20,5 kg i quoted)

If you search in the web with these name you can see their sophisticated carachteristics. Note that the weight was necessary to stabilize the MG in sustained fire.

In the heavy MG squad (6 or 7 men) the tripod was carried by the N.2 gunner, the same position that in the infantry squad carried spare barrels and one ammunition box.

Just to compplete the matter of weight of tripod for MG42 give a look at this. The lafette 42 is quite big. BTW is similar to the Lafette 34 shown on page VII-8 of the handbook..
