I'm searching for the best color match for modern Iraqi armor. What do you use?
In my area the most readily available are Model Master Acrylic and Enamel, but I'll use whatever is the best match.
Thanks

I started with a base of Army Painter's Bleached Bone primer, applied a brown wash and then highlighted with Floquil Soviet sand. It is a shade lighter than the former RG vehicles I saw in theatre, but it looks right from above in 6mm scale.
That said, once stuff gets into the open desert it seems to get a slightly more 'pink' tone.

I hope you've worn a uniform at some point Baphomet69, because to me, unless you've been prepared to be that 'pink mist' it's not a comment I'd be prepared to make. I'm not complaining, nor am I a moderator or anything, but I will point out that a handful of Iraqi units fought hard, despite seeing the destruction around them, and no doubt the hopelessness of their cause (or circumstances).

As I recall a story told by a Sgt and Lt in Desert Shield/Storm,
an Iraqi was firing his AK at a tank, the tank commander tried to fire his .50 cal, it was jammed, then tried the coax...it did not function... and as they were receiving fire, they fired the 120mm APFSDS round in the chamber..... it was a mist.
He was fighting, it is armed conflict.

When I had some for Iraq, that was what I had used. Did a couple of light coats and turned out well. Sold them off laterwhoa Mohamed wrote:Valejo Iraqi sand might be a good start....

You could try MM Acrylic Armour Sand or even MMA Sand.In my area the most readily available are Model Master Acrylic and Enamel, but I'll use whatever is the best match.

I wouldn't dare to comment if I hadn't. I was Army airborne stationed in Panama. I was present for the removal of Noriega. I'm well aware that at least some units in every opposing force our armed forces have ever faced have been valiant and able warriors. However, National (and unit) pride trump that fact for me.piersyf wrote:I hope you've worn a uniform at some point Baphomet69, because to me, unless you've been prepared to be that 'pink mist' it's not a comment I'd be prepared to make. I must say that I do understand your position, however. I've never had much patience for those who talk the talk but didn't walk the walk.
