Pre-Xmas-Battle few pics

Post by Ragnar65 »

Hi guys,
to get more into the rules, I did a sologame today. Fielded two platoons German Panzer IV vs. 2 Platoons US Shermans.

Americans are on their way to Germany, have to pass a little village anywhere in Holland. The German Panzers are ordered to stop the American advance and hold the position. It was a typical head-to-head scenario.

Due to some good firing-positions, the Germans managed to reduce the US-force to 50% before the night falls.

I played the "The Tank Game"-Rules only, so there was no Artillery or any other support. The Shermans are already based, the Pz-IV haven´t yet... Se enclosed some impressions:

If I had been the American tank company commander, I would have fired me a 2nd LT platoon leader for bee-boppin his Sherman platoon in Injun country without infantry support!!

Nice terrain and buildings.

I recognise Gompel's fantastic church and some of his other buildings, as well as a few of IanH's buildings. Nice stuff.

And great pictures. :)

Nice to see the buildings in use!
I do like your bushes and the big dark green tree. Did you make them yourself? Usually trees in 1:285 scale are small (for gaming reasons or whatever), but this one is really great. Shame there is nobody hiding in the shade otherwise it would be easier to get an idea what size it is. :)
Can't see very well because it's a bit out of focus in the background of that tree, but the area surrounded by bushes really looks good as a plowed field. How did you make it? Cardboard with the wavy pattern? At least that is what it looks like in the enclosed vegetable garden.

Hi buddy,
first of all thank you for providing us with your fantastic buildings for free! I think I have all the buildings printed and nearly all built... :)
Yeah, the bigger trees are selfmade with florists wire and some clumpfoliage. I think they really fit better for big, old trees. On some pics you see GHQ´s trees (the bright ones...). Hey, when I got them i realised that they are made the same way as my own are, they are only smaller...
The field surrounded by bushes is made of simple corrugated cardboard, covered with earth form my garden. No need for further painting there, the dried earth does it all. :) Yes, you´re right, it´s also on the pic with the little bed surrounded by small walls. It´s done the same way.
