Hi Guys,
recently got my "Kampfgruppe 1941" combat command box. When screening the minis I wondered which would be the crew for the PAK. There´s 5 figures on the sprue of the IG, but none in any kneeling posture that coudl fit to the PAK. Even the Artillery Crew-Set doesn´t include any kneeling guys.
So the question for the big prize is: Waht figures do you guys take for the crew of the German PAK?

Personally I use Heroics and Ros. Not all that bad compared to GHQ's kneeling gun crews (and molded separately so you can position them in the correct places around the gun), and can be bought as crew strips (ie; no gun, just the crew). I'd recommend filing the bases a little thinner, though. GHQ simply do not make appropriate kneeling gun crews.

Some infantry packs like G525 have kneeling soldiers (but just one out of the many).
But I think either G56, G511 or G515 would be your best option.
I got the G511 pack. There are quite a few kneeling soldiers in there, but you might want to make some modifications. I think I still got some soldiers of this pack laying around. If you want them, I will have a look for you.

@ Gompel: Thank you for that kind offer. If you would have some kneeling minis you don´t need, I´d really appreciate if you´d sell them to me.
@ RedLeif: So you say GHQ has got kneeling minis that aren´t part of any package? Hmm, then I hope any guy of GHQ will read this and tell me something about that topic...

I too use H & R for most of my kneeling gun crews.piersyf wrote:Personally I use Heroics and Ros. As some have mentioned, GHQ does make some "en bloc" style kneeling crews to go with some of their guns. But I never have enough.
The en bloc style figures are rather old castings, and so don't have the extreme / remarkable quality of GHQ's newer individual infantry figures. So even though I would give H & R infantry only about a B- grade (compared to GHQ's A+), when it comes to gun crews there really is not so much of a difference.
Some pics to compare:

Here is one of my GHQ Soviet 57mm AT guns with crew. Not the best pic, but it was a game-time pic, not a posed pic. About the best I could find.
I find this crew bloc to be entirely usable. Not remarkably beautiful, but it works.

Here are GHQ Bofors 37mm AT guns (from the Polish list) in the service of my Romanian force. The kneeling crews are H&R. Again, not great, but usable.

As a comparison point, here is one of my Romanian artillery batteries. This is the GHQ 100mm howitzer off of the Italian list, with Russian artillery crew figures. The quality is really substantially better. This is highlighted if you look at the farthest two guns. I didn't have enough GHQ figures, so I put a couple of H&R artillery crew figures on two of the bases. Even with my poor photography skills I can still pick them out. So again, the other guys' stuff is serviceable, but the GHQ iindividual crew figures, at least to my eye, are notably better.
Added on Edit:
GHQ does indeed sell their products seperately from the packs in the catalog.Ragnar65 wrote:So you say GHQ has got kneeling minis that aren´t part of any package? Hmm, then I hope any guy of GHQ will read this and tell me something about that topic...
From the FAQ on this site:
The FAQ specifically addresses turrets and hulls. But you can probably get just about anything GHQ makes. I'm sure you could get gun crews from them. But I can't say what the price might be. Will it be priced like a turret? Like a hull? Something else? Shrug...Q. Do you sell spare parts?
A. For most of the Micro Armour® vehicles (those that are sold 5 to a pack) spare hulls are $2.00 each, spare turrets/guns are $1.25 each, and spare MG sprues are $1.75 each, plus shipping and handling. When ordering spare parts, please be sure to include the GHQ stock number of the pack that the parts come from, and give a description of the parts. We do our best to fill spare parts orders correctly, but spare parts orders are not returnable.

That said, many of us here on the forum have used this method to pick up some extras from GHQ. They are very friendly and helpful folks. So if you call them, I'm sure they will help you out.
Hope that helps.
