Paint Brushes

Post by fullmetaljacket »

Looking to buy Winsor & newton paint brushes.

My question from any on here which I'm hoping and sure some of you use them. Is where to buy them? And what are good sizes and types to get. Especially for Micronauts and figure painting.

Thanks

I have had success buying them from Blick Art Supply. I have a B&M location near my house but they have an online store with pretty good prices as well.
I use # 1, 0, 00 and 000 round for most figures and 3mm flat for base coating. Once the 3 mm lose their cohesion so to speak, they become dry brushes. I use cheap craft store brushes for washes and such..
Google Blick art supply.. I would post the link but the sensor would not let it show up.

I'm having trouble finding brushes as well. I try to take very good care of my brushes but my 20/0 and 30/0 are 6 years old and not holding a tip any more. The only ones of that size I have found were the Midro Mark but have this funky ball handle.

Do either of these vendors sell that size?

I use the 30.0 to paint details on my infantry. (yes insane)

Also there is the issue of painting cockpit struts on my Raiden Hurricanes and Zeros'

Usually on Micro armor I use 18.0 for details.

I'll check them out.

Thanks

Not sure if there is a Michael's Craft Store in the States, but I think they have W&N brushes.

Michaels store brand 18/0 are pretty good but in my experience they don't keep their points as long as the W&N. But they are significantly cheaper.

Thanks all for the suggestions, I will check out the online store. Also there is a art supply store that carries W & N in fort wayne IN.

I really spend a lot of time taking care of my brushes have learned that over the years that, taking care of brushes will save you money in the long run.

But painting some of the small detail of GHQ. Takes a smaller finer brush. Now there is a few brushes out there that work pretty good. Citadel brushes work good, but have seen and heard many talk about W & N. SO, i want to try them have neard nothing but good things about them.
