Just out of curiosity are the star and patriotic slogan on the Russian M4A2 decals or does someone out there have a very steady hand?

I guess the Star could be from the red airforce set but the slogan doesn't seem to be on the red tactical decal set and theres no picture of the white tactical set to compare.

Yeah, the star looks to be from the Red Air Force set. I don't recognize the source of the turret numbers, but the lettering on the hull is from the Microscale set. Go to the Microscale Decals site and do a search for "Military 1/285 scale". They have German and American sets as well. Good stuff.

Russian Decals
Hi Ducknucks
Since I painted this tank for GHQ I will tell you what decals I used.
Gort is correct in that the Russian slogan is from Microscale industries. I is actually one of the larger slogan decals on their 1/285th scale Russian decal sheet. Please note that some of these slogans are actually a tad large to use on a T-34 turret but I have used them on some of the KV's in the GHQ catalog.
For the red star, I actually used I-94's Russian insignia with white outlines. These are good decals and there is a variety of sizes to choose from. I have used them on the Pe-2B in the catalog as well.
For the tactical number, I actually used a GHQ tactical number from one of the old GHQ Russian decal sets that I had. I used the number 244 from the 2nd Guards Tank set and replaced the 2 with a 1 to change it around a bit. There is a similar Russian Sherman tank in the Red Engines of War website although the patriotic slogan is my artistic license in this case.
If you want smaller tactical numbers, you can use the Russian tactical numbers that I-94 makes. An example of their use is shown with the T-34/76 modesl 42 and 43 in the current catalog. I also used some of the smaller I-94 Russian slogans on some of these as well.
I hope this helps.

Russian Decals
My basic philosophy when it comes to painting for GHQ and painting my own GHQ models is this: I will do whatever it takes and use whatever products I need to make the model look as good as it can.
This may mean using GHQ decals or it may not. In many cases GHQ does not make all the decals that I might need for a project. I don't have a problem with doing this as long as the finished product looks good to me and hopefully to others as well.
Like Cama, I maintain a large selection of decals from various manufacturers including GHQ, I-94, Goblintooth, and Microscale to mention a few.
I admit that I do not use GHQ paints or glue to do these as I like the results I get from other products that I have been using for many years now.
