Warweb

Post by paul »

Good Afternoon,

I have used Warweb over the last few years and have always had good service until my last two orders. One of them still has a couple of Vallejo paints outstanding but no one is answering the phone. Does anyone know by chance it they are still in business?

Regards,

Paul

I placed an order on 7/20/2104 and have yet to receive it. IMO, the company may have been ok once, but right now they are showing every sign of being a scam. After threatening to contact PayPal and contest the charge due to lack of vendor response, I finally got a reply: We have to order it from the manufacturer. Ok...fine. I ordered the same product from GHQ a week after I ordered from them...and had it within five days. That was at the end of July.

Sadly, personal issues kept me distracted and I missed the window to contest the purchase so right now I'm writing it off. If it arrives, cool. If not, it'll be the first time since I started using the internet (back in the early 90s...) that I've been shafted by a merchant.

Right now, if I need something from GHQ, I'll order from GHQ or one other vendor I know answers their e-mail.

I've used them for a few years now, and although slower than GHQ I've not had any real issues with them. They can be slow in answering emails too. It might interest you to know that this same question was asked in August last year on TMP (maybe a seasonal thing?). The problem with our hobby is that it is mostly run as a hobby business for our suppliers. I-94 has got noticeably worse since he acquired Raiden. I think he just took on too much, as he's a pretty decent fella.

I had an issue with Warweb/Grandiosity that dragged on for months (167 days actually). While they have the best discounts I won't use them again.

I really don't care if he's a "pretty decent fella", as a businessman his practices are among the worst I've ever seen. I accept a few days' window between sending an e-mail and receiving one, but to not reply at all is unforgivable. Also, I'd be willing to cut some slack if this was a sole proprietor operation where they had a full time day job and only did this on the weekends, but it isn't; the guy has a full line hobby store with regular hours.

Waiting four weeks for a product that is in stock at the manufacturer is not acceptable. If I want to get paid, I have to show up for work; similarly, if he expects to keep customers he needs to ship the product that was paid for.

You may not think it's an issue, but a lot of folks have been burned and aren't willing to stand for it.

See the current thread that I started over on TMP:

I am still waiting for items from an order placed 5/29/14. What I really do not get is that when I received a part of the order Monday and part was back ordered after 4 months of waiting, yet all the items are from the same manufacturer.

Kurt,

Wait, are you fed up with Dave at I-94, who is the one described as "a pretty decent fella", or Warweb/Grandiosity? I agree with piersyf on his assessment of Dave's character but haven't ordered from them lately to know if there is a problem with their service. I have never had a problem go unresolved with I-94 so that would be bad news if that is happening to you.

My issue is with Warweb/Grandiosity. I must have misread what he was trying to communicate.

My paint was ordered 5/9/14 and I received part of them but still waiting on the other two. I have talked with someone on the phone once and emailed at least once. You would think customer service would be important if they want to keep getting orders.

Oddly enough, my order was waiting for me when I got home today.

Doesn't make a difference, I'll never deal with them again; it just isn't worth it.

I used Warweb a lot until about five years ago when their service and communications tanked. I now order directly from GHQ for all my Micro Armour needs.

I've placed two orders with I-94 in the past four weeks and Dave's service and communications continue to be excellent. I've detected no drop-off in I-94's responsiveness since Dave acquired Raiden. He's gotten back to me within hours of my emails to him and I've received the products within a few days.

Your recent experience with Dave differs to mine; failure to reply to emails, deliveries failing to arrive, and when he (kindly) offered to replace them, that didn't happen either. Haven't used him since.

I've been buying things via mail order since I was a wee lad and have rarely had trouble. However, you should know that Internet purchases are, I believe, within the jurisdiction of the Postal Inspectors. These are the same guys who investigate mail fraud. If a vendor fails to respond within a month then a referral to the Inspectors can be made. At least those were the rules in the past assuming that our Congress in its "infinite" wisdom hasn't changed them.

The vendor is supposed to fulfill the order within a month or notify as to the reason giving you the option for back order and further waiting or canceling the transaction. I've got a couple of vendors right now that are skating on the edge of this and I get more than a little put out to have to pay up front then never hear from them again. Having to email them is the only option and gets a might tiresome.

It took 2 months to get my last order, but they blamed the delay on GHQ not having enough staffing to get orders out quickley. In the end and after numerous e-mails I got my order and a refund. The prices are good but it takes forever to get your order. As far as Dave from I-94 I have had nothing but great service from him.
