Making burning markers

Post by 6mmwargaming »

Hi all

I've added a new article to my 6mm wargaming site covering some helpful info for the discerning gamer. :-)

The article covers how to make burning markers of vehicles and aircraft to improve the look of your games. It is aimed at the 6mm gamer but can be scaled up (or down!) I guess. The direct link is http://6mm.wargaming.info/page505.shtml

And here is a taster (with GHQ models of course)!

Very nice! Thanks for posting.

Do you use a magnet for the base on the ground vehicles?

No they just balance on top. Obviously for some vehicles it will be better than others. I did think of using a magnet as my tank generally have magnetised turrets but I decided it wasn't worth the extra effort.

I wondered if the question might have been about the base the vehicle is on, as the models aren't magnetic...
I've been mounting some of mine on magnetic sheet, and frequently see stryation similar to that on the edge of yours when I cut them.
The markers are Very Nice BTW, among the best I've seen.
I use the woodland scenics Autumn foam all the time for model railroading, and this never occured to me...

No, I was talking about the base of the flame. A magnet would hold better than just say a flat washer which could slide around.

I do like the bases on the planes. I have tossed back and forth on bases on my vehicles and at this time again on the 'No' side of the house.

Your pardon, sir.
I didn't see the point of using a magnet on a non-ferous casting.
Rougher surface/more friction to prevent sliding then?
Good point. I'd probably try a disk punched out of sheet lead.
