Hello
Was wondering what type of Ink wash an mixture you all use on your aircraft? I dont want a real heavy ink but would like one that gives it some character to the model. Thanks. My planes are painted an decalled an ready for ink an final drybrush an sealing.

Hi Fullmetaljacket,
I prefer to use good quality turps (Windsor and Newton for example) and quick-drying lamp black oil paint in the ratio of about 1:20. I have to keep mixing it while in use. It flows into the recesses nicely and dries in a few hours. It does not leave black patches on the flat surfaces and does not produce those white patches you sometimes get with some washes. Plus, you can put several thin coats on if you wish without clogging up the detail. The acrylic washes from Vallejo are also quite good but not as good, I don't use inks per se because they tend to just coat the entire model evenly and make it look overall dull, rather than flowing into the recesses. I've tried quite a few of them but still prefer the turps and oil mix.
Hope that helps.

Hey stenna00, thanks for posting that. I'm going to try your technique. I've been using the ink and water (and a little windex for good measure) and I've had a lot of problems with the black patches on the flat surfaces.
