Battle of Kursk: Relentless Dragon, Nashua, NH 2014/11/20

Post by WargameHub »

I'm going to be running my Battle of Kursk game that I did at Historicon a number of years ago.

Historicon thread
http://www.ghqmodels.com/forum/viewtopi ... ight=kursk

It's a 6 player game.

The game will be Nov 20th starting around 6:30 p.m. at Relentless Dragon, Nashua, NH. I making a list of players and I think I have at least one or two open slots.

Nice terrain boards! Looks like a fun game. Would you mind posting or PM'ing me your 2014 OOB's for this scenario?

The boards were easy to make (and are the 1"=100 yards scale). They are 2'x2' plywood with pink foam board hills. The hills are screwed in rather than glued (helps avoid warping). The top is felt that is glued down to everything under it and the roads/rivers/towns are just painted on. It's setup so that the rivers and roads line up on all sides so the boards go in any order.

For the OOB, it's setup as a large beginner game.

# Unit Type
German Player 1
4 Panzer IV H
3 Tiger I
2 Panzer III L
1 Panzer IV H HQ
1 Panzer IV H GHQ

German Player 2
4 Panzer IV H
3 Tiger I
2 Panzer III L
1 Panzer IV H HQ
1 Panzer IV H GHQ

Russian Player A
8 T-34/76
3 KV-1
1 T-34 HQ
1 T-34 GHQ

Russian Player B
8 T-34/76
3 KV-1
1 T-34 HQ
1 T-34 GHQ

Russian Player C
8 T-34/76
3 KV-1
1 T-34 HQ
1 T-34 GHQ

Russian Player D
8 T-34/76
3 KV-1
1 T-34 HQ
1 T-34 GHQ

Final points are 1,726.4 for each German player, 1,470 for each Russian. At 11-13 stands per person it's pretty easy to manage.

This went fairly well. I ran the game with 4 new players. As usual with the GHQ rules it only took a few turns for the players to "get it". I however made a few mistakes since I hadn't played the rules in quite some time.

On the plus side, everyone liked the rules and we will be playing it more often.
