USS Kishwaukee (AOG-9)

Post by WargameHub »

This is a Patapsco-class gasoline tanker. I know GHQ doesn't make one, but is there something close I could use that anyone knows about?

It was my grandfather's ship during WWII and would like to get one on the painting bench. My other grandfather is easier, he was on B-17s.

In 1/2400 scale, the only Patapsco class that I know of is by Panzerschiffe resin, model number M-052. They do not sell it separately, only as a part of a group of "merchant" ships (MG-1 in their catalog). The group includes [their spellings] Alimoso, Saumico, Cimmaron, Annabelle Lykes, Andromeda, Bayfield, and Delta in addition to an AOG-1 class. The model is accurate but without much detail, typical of Panzerschiffe. On the other hand, it does include a number of ships that aren't otherwise available and for US$20 you get eight ships.

I don't know about other scales - just don't keep track of them. You might try ALNAVCO's catalog.

True, there are a lot more B-17 models available, but now you have to determine exactly which model and block of B-17.
