Painting fallschmjagers

Post by cabin4clw »

Hi,

Because of the sale, I'm going to be ordering some fj figures. Here's the problem what colors should I use? I don't know how to paint them to make them look good
Could anyone please help?

Joe

Joe,

What period of the war are you painting them for?

Pants are 816 Luftwaffe Uniform, smocks are 821 Germ Camo Beige with 890 Reflective Green and 872 Chocolate Brown Camo. Helmets are 920 Germ Uniform Green. All colors are Vallejo Model Color.

Cav Dog,

Just a quick heads up, while the Luftwaffe wore a blue uniform, the standard Fallschirmjäger trousers were field grey. They did still wear the blue blouse, though.

IIRC, the Osprey book said they were blue initially and later changed to field grey. This was confirmed by another source stating that they would wear their jump smocks over their regular blue unis. Although early on the smocks weren't camo. Mine are kind of an amalgamation since they aren't modeled for any particular period of the war.
