Rules Question

Post by Waddell »

In the MicroArmor The Game: Modern rules there is a constant reference to the Tech Level of the units in any given army. Is there a reference anywhere as to what those tech levels represent? There are some indications in the rules for some items but this is limited. For example bolt action rifles are TL1, semiautomatic are TL2, Assault Rifles are TL3 but what makes something TL4 or TL5. Has anyone worked out their own definitions?

There are more indications of what separates one 'tech level' fro manother in the "Producing Weapon Statistics for Micro Armour®:The Game" document found in the "Free Stuff" tab of GHQ's Military Models link. here:

I also consider such issues as targeting systems (simple telescopic sights [T1] to thermal image and laser range finders linked to targeting computers [T5], Main Gun stabilization (none, vertical axis only, dual axis) etc. when considering a weapons tech level.

Thanks for the info! This is useful. Now to change the subject slightly, what causes the difference between the categories of Infantry units. Support and Engineer are self explanatory but what governs whether a platoon is (A), (B), (C), etc.

From the Producing Weapons Statistics guide it appears that the letter is a reflection of the number of light machine guns present and possibly the number of RPG's, SMAW's and such.

Does anyone have guidance they use when working out a new TO&E?
