T72 Tusk stand in for T90SM ?

Post by RedLeif »

researching the Indian army this morning and came across the T90SM variant. Could this: http://www.ghqmodels.com/store/w101.html

reasonably stand in for this?:

The T90SM sounds pretty formidable. Active protection Systems, improved composite hull armour plus k6 ERA, good modern Fire Control and Thermal imagers, could add up to a pretty complete system.

Does anyone know yet if the dozer blade is a separate part?

I just received my W101s yesterday. The dozer piece is a separate piece.

I think the T-72 TUSK could stand in for the T-90SM. I'm sure you can find some rivet counters out there that would say no way ,,, but I think it's a pretty close match.

We'll need to find one of these

It seems that I remember a GHQ model that has something similar that could work ... but my brain is failing me at this time.

Cama,

I've got a bunch of those from when I did my BTR-T 30mm gun conversions, I just tried one .... the round base part is about twice as large as it should be, also it's pretty much just a standard MG mounted there.

Good eye though ,,, close but I don't think it's what I was thinking. I'll do some searching myself too and see if I can come up what I think I saw.

Allen,
A few other options: the MG from the Israeli Namer or Achzarit, or an AA M.G. from T-80/80U/90(perhaps with some trim work), or a CROW .50 cal MG. Or [CRAZY IDEA]cut off the CITV from the M2A3 Bradley, glue it as you see fit and add a small stem to represent the MG.

Hopefully that gives a few ideas.

Another option is use the rear machine gun from the Marder made by the other guys, located in Minn.

Old Model

Post by Bruce Morris »

I had contacted GHQ last week on the subject of the Marder with the remote turret and GHQ said 'Those don't sounds familiar- they are either very old, or made by another company'. I retrieved 5 from my collection and they are definitely a GHQ product as shown in the quality of the casting. They may be from the early 1980's. They are pewter and don't have a number or 'GHQ' on the bottom of the hull.
I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here :}

Allen, is that pic from a Bradley?

Bruce, You are correct, there is an old GHQ Marder with a rear Machine Gun over the troop exit door. It is an older one. When I started gaming & collecting Marders in 1990 the current look of Marder from pack N41 with side skirts and camo netting tied down, which is still produced. Besides the rear m.g., the older Marder does not have the camo netting on the hull. I have only picked up the older GHQ from others in auctions, conventions, etc.

There is another company in the same state as GHQ that produces a Marder with a rear machine gun that has a similar look m.g. as the picture. Germany quit using that configuration in the 1980s.

I have mine organized with my GHQ Leopard 2A5, with the shorter barrel of the 120, just like the Leopard 2A4.

Let me know if I can help, PM. I can always look around.
