Air recognition markers

Post by Bobsalt »

I'm looking for some advice on creating air recognition markers. I'd like to drape a few vehicles with flags to add a little splash to a group of them, and I love the way they look in the photos I've seen. Could anyone tell me how you are making these? Thanks.

Never done it myself but I believe some use thin tin foil then paint.
There are some great photos on here so someone will know and pipe up.
Good luck.

I use a very simple method - simply cut a rectangle of the right size out of thin paper, and then use PVA glue or something similar to drape it over the vehicle, pressing it down to conform to the contours and sometimes putting in a deliberate wrinkle or a folded-back corner. The glue allows it to "drape" like a fabric flag. If I am feeling enthusiastic I may add little bits of thin cotton to represent ropes holding it down. I find it easier to paint it after putting it in place.
