I just noticed something...
GHQ has included parcel tracking on my latest order. What a great idea. How long have they been doing that? My order left the USPS facility in MSP yesterday afternoon and is "In Transit". Can't be long now. Thanks GHQ!

Thanks for the feedback! Everything that we have heard has been very positive. We actually started processing all of our own packages in-house for the Post Office about 4 years ago. There are still a few addresses that we can't process in-house (mostly APO, FPO addresses). The service is much better with us doing it ourselves, and there is the added benefit of the tracking information getting sent out for everyone that includes an e-mail address with their order.
Thank you for your support,

Ah, that would explain it. For the last three years I've had a FPO address so I wouldn't have seen the improvements.GHQ wrote:Thanks for the feedback! LOL, In 1999 I ordered a bunch of climbing gear from REI which included two new ropes, a helmet, a headlamp, a set of carabiners, a chalk bag, a pound of chalk, shoes and a harness. I was living in Naples the first time around back then. Through the wonders of the Navy mail system my package was misdirected to each of the four ships in the ARG that was passing through the Med. By the time my package arrived at my desk the only items remaining were my shoes, and the chalk. I guess none of the Marines had the same size feet. The box was helpfully stamped "Damaged in Transit" Ya think?
I love REI. I told them about it and sent a picture of the "damaged" and re-taped and re-"damaged" box and they replaced everything.

I began placing orders in late 2012, early 2013 and they've always done this so far as I can remember. Now if the Post Office can just keep their software running we're all set. On my last order the P.O. appears to have had a software glitch in the San Francisco routing facility and there's been no updates since the box hit the St. Paul routing facility. Clearly not GHQ's doing. GHQ's performance in the shipping arena has been outstanding!

We were unloading duffel bags from guys who had spent time practicing amphibious operations and one of them weighed a ton. I asked the guy what he had in it. He said one of the search lights from ship to ship. I asked why he got it. His reply was he wanted to see if he could use. Plus, we laughed every time he thought about the Navy guy looking for his light.
I learned that day if it is not tied/bolted down a Marine will take it.

Package was delivered today. I checked tracking this morning and there hadn't been an update since the 10th. But now it shows that it arrived in Providence this morning at 1:37 and reached me by 12:01 pretty cool.

I ordered something, from another company, and the USPS showed that it had been notified to pick it but there the tracking sat for two weeks when, suddenly, it was in town and out for delivery. Did the USPS lose it for 2 weeks?av8rmongo wrote:Package was delivered today. I checked tracking this morning and there hadn't been an update since the 10th. My last order was delayed a day by U.S.P.S. and arrived last Saturday conveniently slit open on the top. Looks like it was done by a knife or box cutter. Everything worked fine until it left St. Paul. The delay seems to have been in San Francisco where the gerbil that ran on the treadwheel that powered their computer died of old age. I know it was a computer glitch due to the message I got while tracking the package. When it arrived cut open then recite with packing tape I suspected the delay was due to someone in the S.F. routing center getting greedy/curious.
None of this is GHQ's fault by any stretch of the imagination. I'll probably have a little chat with the local Postal Inspectors on Monday about why my package was opened without a warrant or anything. My paranoia runs deep when dealing with them.
