Basing towed guns and transport

I went back and forth and in the end I've decided to base towed guns and their transport separately, In part because I own a lot of trucks already, in part because some rules (like FoW) give different speeds based on differing towing vehicles, and in part because I'd have to order custom bases for a lot of guns (a German 15cm with a SdKfz prime mover needs a 1/2 x 2" base, for example).

Up til now we've just put a truck next to a deployed gun.

How do you base yours, if at all?

I've based mine both ways in the past. The B-4 (203mm Soviet guns) with S-65 tractors and German 150mm s. feld haubitze with SdKfz 8 tractors have been modeled in towing mode on a 1" x 2" stands. But I also have stands of the guns and tractors on separate bases for when they're deployed. Most of my smaller guns, esp. anti-tank guns, are based separately from the prime movers.

If GHQ is a Sdkfz 7 as GHQ dosn't make a SdKfz8.

For some of mine I had to go the 'expensive' route; one stand with tractor and gun being towed, and separate stands for a tractor and a deployed gun. Need twice as many tractors then. I did that for the 57mm in the WW2 armoured infantry companies. My towed artillery tractors have slightly longer bases so the towed gun fits on the back. When deployed, the gun is removed from the tractor base and the deployed gun and crew get put on the table on their own base.
