Possible addition to the Micronauts list...

Post by StarCruiser »

I've noticed lots of folks who built Napoleonic (and some earlier) 1/1200 ships that DON'T include anchors tend to use GHQs 1/1200 anchors...

I believe most are just using leftovers for the job. Now, if GHQ would consider it, make sets of their anchors readily available in the Nappy 1/1200 range. Make sure there are several sizes included in the sets. They would work fine for anything in the 17th-early 19th century with little or no changes...

Cheap, quick product that I suspect would sell like hotcakes if folks knew about it!

If only!

Just a guess but when you count the cost of the sculptor, master mold maker, molds, production molds, labor cost of casting a limited use item, for other companies product, you will find the unit cost is not cheap.

Well - GHQ already makes anchors for the Nappy line - save for my VERY old original kits pretty much all of them come with anchors.

Should only require more production and a package for them.

Correction - they only make one size (roughly .2" x .19") and as far as I can tell, it only comes with the larger models.

Odd thing is, while it's a good match for a typical 2-decker SOL, it might be a bit small for 1st and 2nd raters and too large for frigates on down.

Here's some data from several of the Anatomy of the Ship books:

HMS Victory Bower - 22' 6" length of the stock - 21' length of the shank - 14' across the arms
HMS Victory Sheet - same as above

HMS Bellona Bower - 19' 9" length of the stock - 18' 5" length of the shank - 10' 6" across the arms
HMS Bellona Sheet - same as above
HMS Bellona Stream - 13' 4" length of the stock - 12' 6" length of the shank - 7' across the arms

HMS Pandora Bower - 15' 6" length of the stock - 14' 6" length of the shank - ~8' across the arms
HMS Pandora Stream - 8' 6" length of the stock - 9' length of the shank - ~5' 3" across the arms
