Hi all,
I've done a bit of searching around without luck, so I thought I would ask:
Any tips for differentiating HQ stands from other infantry stands?
I am working on a 1944 Panzer Recon Team for Micro Squad, and have the infantry on 1" x 1" 1mm Styrene Sheet bases (with 4 figures on each base). I was thinking about putting the HQ unit on a 3/4" x 3/4" bases with 3 figures, but was wondering how you guys do it.
Thank you.

GHQ's Infantry packs have a guy pointing. I only include him on command stands.

I've usually done what saxophone has been doing, putting obvious officer and radio figures on the stand. However, after doing some research on various unit headquarters I'm getting ready to shift gears.
Russian/Soviet HQ stands will consist of an officer, radioman, and a SAM-7 figure. U.S. Battalions will likely consist of several stands with one as an officer and the rest will probably be seated WWII figures at tiny tables. The Russian HQ consists of no more than a few people (7 to 10) whereas U.S. HQ's can number in the dozens or hundreds!
Note that this will also allow you to model units that use some of the more esoteric models GHQ sells that don't get used elsewhere! Buying more models of rarely used equipment has got to make everyone happy, right?

I use a combination of these - using the obvious officer figures, and others such as the guy lying down with binoculars (observer) and riflemen in less active poses. I also model little vignettes - many of mine are standing behind walls, fences or hedges surveying the field, I do maps on tables, often I'll add jeeps, motorbikes or various other small transport (e.g. Kettenkrad). All my stuff is on 1" x 1" metal bases, so I can't use the shape or size as an indication, and I don't like markings on the base - if they are big enough to be useful they rather spoil the look of the thing.
