TOE clarification

Post by martin »

Hi

I would appreciate clarification of the TOE description

http://www.ghqmodels.com/pdf/Germany/Ge ... (1943).pdf

Under support units it says:

Panzer Company 3 x Panzer Platoon, 1 x Panzer, 1 x Panzer (HQ)

What does "1 x Panzer" mean? It isn't a platoon and it isn't an HQ, what is it?

Thanks

Martin

Typically the HQ "section" of a tank company was 2 tanks, with 3-4 platoons of up to 5 tanks each. At paper strength a company was 22 tanks. Four platoons of 5 tanks, plus a 2 tank HQ section.

Martin,

I dug around through the various Panzer Battalion listings and found the same thing in several of those pages. However, in the 1942 version it refers to 3 Panzer Platoons, 1 Light Panzer Platoon, and 1 Panzer(HQ).

My gut level feeling is that this is what the rather mysterious listing is referring to.

Hope this helps!
