I arrived in Orlando, earlier today, for my first wargaming convention. It's called recon. I am sure most of you have heard about it. If not, the wargamers from Florida have. I am pretty stoked. I am playing one 8 hour game tomorrow, with a gamer from the area. Played with him a couple of times since I made the move to Florida.
The scenario is modern armor. Basic idea is a small German force has been hit hard and the remaining units are holding on, against the Russian bear, till they can be reinforced. Played this one before and it was lots of fun. Should be again.
Mike.

Redleg,.
I did take some pics. When I get home, I will see if I can patch them into something resembling a story.
Though I was only at recon for one day and only played in one game, it was a great time. Game master Paul put on a good and fun game.
I think I am hooked on the convention part of the hobby. Being surrounded by so many like minded people out to have a good time and share there love for the hobby was amazing.

The fight for the M901
"Bravo 2-1 this Romeo 3-4. We are at position A1123."
"Romeo 3-4, be advised large column of BMP-1's has been spotted. Do not allow enemy units to take bridge" "Roger Bravo 2-1"
The crew of Romeo 3-4 holds off the first recon elements but is struck several times in the track but repairs are minor and the crew is able to move the vehicle. Second waves attacks the bridge and again the defenders are able to hold the bridge. Soviet Commander Hoth decides to start deploying his anti-tank units to increase the volume of fire being thrown at the American and German defenders. After 13 turns little remains of the Allied original forces but Romeo 3-4 is still standing and has actually forced the Soviet Mechanized Regiment to fall back in disarray. Little did Romeo 3-4 realize the Russian commander was actually falling back to the tank battalion for the regiment. Once Combined the force again moves forward. Romeo 3-4 is finally target by not just the mechanized regiment but also two hind gunships. After 30 minutes of assaults the crew is rattled and leaved the M901. Sadly, the Soviet commander is bent on destroying this brave vehicle, which can no longer move, and destroys the vehicle.
Days later, the crew stands in front of the division commander and receive Medal of Honors for their bravery under intense fire by an overwhelming. Behind the US General is a German General Heinz who also bestows on the crew Germany's highest honors. Through the defense of the Allied force the Russian attempt to encircle the retreating German Army is prevented and the German forces are able to reestablish a front 2 kilometers behind the bridge.
While the war still goes on, the Allied forces can thankfully count on the German Army and the 5 divisions that would have been lost had the bridges fallen.
