Additional radar domes for Micronauts
Hi, I've been looking for a way to add additional radar domes for my modern micronaut warships as I want to add more details found in some latest variants. Does anyone have idea what materials will be best for this? I have tied to cut out radar domes from other warships and "transplant" it over, but that is a costly option having to sacrifice another one. The size of these radar domes is gonna be 1mm to less than 2mm in diameters -- so tiny that I think it might not be possible to 3D print them alone. I've thought about using beads, but getting in this tiny size and oval shape will be a challenge.

Get some Evergreen brand plastic rod stock, and round off the end before snipping off a piece..?

I was going to suggest that if you have a hand pump type of soap container, like
liquid Dial, when you disassemble the pump, you'll find two different sizes of small
plastic or steel balls, but the smallest I've found measures out at 3mm diameter,
which is probably too large for your needs. I'm gathering them for use on the
1/700 warships that I have.

I have some plastic push pins, I don't know what they were originally intended for they are all plastic including the pointed "shaft". The head is a faceted ball about 2mm in diameter. I would suggest looking in a dollar store and a sewing supply house as they may be found there. I am sure I have seen metal shafted push pins with round(ish) plastic balls of the appropriate size.

That's an interesting idea! I'm thinking of the kind of wire bristle brush with round dip ends. That can be of right size for auxilary radars.nashorn88 wrote:I was using the ends of a hair brush I found at the dollar store.
It has red plastic dip ends. Just cut off the tip
Only problem is finding matching tip sizes if you need matching sets of domes.
I’ll post a pic of what I did once I find my ships
