Handy hack for mass production: the Color Grid

Post by Extra Crispy »

A handy hack I use when I have to mass produce things that are not uniform in color - like civilian cars, irregulars, or buildings. I use a "ColorGrid"

Here are 2mm buildings in process. Wall colors are across the top, roof colors down the right side. So as I paint, each building is put in the grid where appropriate. Now I know what main colors I used on each, makes touch. highlighting up easier.

If I want more variety once dry I'll repeat the process. Rows for washes, columns for highlights.

Nice hack, my engineering brain loves it.
Quantity has a Quality all its own.
