This is a little off topic, but what does everyone use to cover up the base that is attached to each individual infantry piece so that it does not show after basing?
I use a standard, household, wall filler. This is what I'm currently using.

Here an example on a current WIP - a fallschirmjäger landing zone marker.

I usually start with a base coat, then add small blotches of color with the finest brush I have. I don't like using washes on my infantry as I think they make them not pop as much, but my inexperience might be the cause of that. Painting packs, launchers, boots, face, etc... is almost always worth the extra effort.

My first attempt at multicam, I think I need to be more patient and try to make the camo blotches smaller for the black and off white colors.

Some extra details I like throwing in are balaclava and different colored weapons.

I always test out ideas I have on 1 or 2 minis before I paint in mass quantities.

Here's a few camo examples I've just been trying for Fallschirmjäger in Normandy '44. Camo pattern A is a splinter type, whilst B & C are more blotchy types. Oops! Just noticed that I swapped patterns B & C around in the finished photo. Need another coat of matt varnish too.

Zoomed in a bit too much on some of the photos too. So out of focus, pixelated etc.

Very well done on those little guys, Gazza! They do look convincing to me. I also know about getting too much of a close-up with 6mm as well. Been there, done that.

A very few in Winter camo and badly done!
Most of my Winter troops are just white, some I have tried a Finland style white with green.
Probably the last.

Pictures tell the true paint/camo, don’t they.
