KF-51 Panther MBT

Post by MechCommander »

Hello guys what do you think about The New German tank called the KF-51 Panther? It’s supposed to work with nations who uses the Leopard 2 tanks.

I do not think it will ever be built as designed, there will be another great 'Tank debate" coming soon of that I am sure (Round 2 for Panzar & the MGS? lol).
The Bundeswehr will be hard pushed to standardize enough Leo's up to 2A7/8 level and that will be a major undertaking.
No doubt there is a mad attempt to retain/obtain 2A4's by many countries right now.
A new 130mm gun is very nice for the wish list but I would not hold your breath.
Europe and the US for that matter is incapable of producing 120mm in volume right now so 130mm will stay in the trade show models only.

Still looks cool Mech, you should get some.

Mick, buy some of the Leopard 2A7+.
You would have superior armor compared to the KDF.

The focus on compatibility with existing Leopard 2 users is a smart move. It could be easier and cheaper for those nations to adopt the KF-51 compared to entirely new tank systems.

I think there is a lot of hype anytime somebody makes a new tank. It might be a spectacular tank, but as Mick pointed out, there are competing priorities on tight budgets.
