Just got my first GHQ carriers, as well as the flight deck decals for them. Obviously, I cannot do it the way I do with float planes : I usually paint them atop their catapult, but carrier planes are a different matter : I need to paint them off the flight deck, so that I can place the decal there. Painting them on the decaled flight deck does not seem a good option either.
I've thought of gluing them on top of common pins, which allows me to spray prime them and paint them individually. This seems however a fairly cumbersome way of doing it. So, I'm begging for advice : any better options?
Thanks in advance!
I painted the planes while still on the sprues for my carriers, and then I just did a quick touch-up when I snipped them from the sprues. I did Korean War air groups, so I bought the aircraft through ShapeWays, but I assume the GHQ aircraft are also on sprues. Then I glued them onto the deck with elmer's white glue. I had a flight deck decal too ad I was paranoid about messing it up with crazy glue.
Columbus' egg... Why hadn't I thought of it?
Thanks, Redleg, I'll give it a try with the 1st sprue, there's another one if I'm not happy with the result, and 10 planes will make a busy enough deckload.
