I am in the same boat, Kampfgruppe. I was really looking forward to the Mid-production Tiger I without the Pfeiffel air cleaners at the very least.

Sadly, this one is just a repacking of a late turret with the early hull. Make the hull more in line with a Mid-production and I am in.

I will be getting some of the IS-1s. Although it too is probably a repack of an early IS-2 hull with a KV-85 turret, this is what I was going to do for mine until this arrived.

That Tiger is definitely a conundrum.

The description says "An early turret on a hull fitted with the smaller, Jan. '44, all-steel road wheels."

The issues that have been pointed out, about the Mid War Tiger, is disappointing. I too was hoping for the same sculpt that Pete outlined. I was ready to put in a company size purchase. With that said, is there no hope for this sculpt? Based on some documentaries, that I have recently watched, they talk about how damaged tanks did not necessarily get the same turrets as they were first manufactured with.. This is probably more common for the PzIIIs and PzIVs. Looking at it from this stand point, would it not be possible to have an early tiger chassis fighting with a later model turret? This could result from a early model tiger lasting to the mid war time period, before it lost its turret and the replaced with a more modern one... Just trying to make lemonade out of lemons... Still want to see a proper Mid War tiger..

Is there no commander's MG on the M1A2 SEP v3?

There is supposed to be, it is a prominent feature on the actual tank: The tank features a low-profile common remotely operated weapon system (Crows) installed with a 12.7mm machine gun

The good news is that the Taiwan M1A2T (SKU: T8) has the remote .50 and matches the actual

33YearGHQ,

Sadly, based on my research, the M1A2T has the same problem as the M1A2 SEP Abrams TUSK II. The CROWS mount is in the wrong position. Every picture i have seen, its installed over the optics that is directly in front of the gunner's hatch and not between the gunner and the commanders hatch. See below.

Image

Unless I'm wrong, Not sure why GHQ keeps propagating this Error. I pointed this out when they released the SEPT TUSK II. In my humble Opinion, they should offer these turrets with two options. One with the gunners hatch without the crows and the ability to put the normal Hatch with the Crows. For me, Its hard for me to accept such and over site. Being a neurotic engineer, so I have just filled the hole on my M1A2 SEP TUSK IIs and somehow come to terms with the mounting box that hey have between the two turrets that does not appear to belong. If I was skilled enough, I probably shave it off... but I am not that good...

Now if you look at the new sculpt, I think the modeled in the mounting bracket that goes over the optics in front of the gunners Hatch. So I am thinking about possibly trying to put a small hole in the correct location so that I can mount the CROWS systems from my M1A2 SEPT TUSK II vehicles. If and when I get the Taiwan M1A2T, I will probably be leaving the CROWS System off and plugging the hole

I have 2 battalions of M1A1s and 3 companies of M1A2s. I had been considering an upgrade to the fleet, but the way the latest M1s have turned out, I simply won't buy them. I may go with more M1A2s, but maybe only 1 company. Just like the 577w/track extension, if it's a research mess, I will pass. Besides, there's too much scrap metal on top of the turret. Gonna go with more artillery - 155SPs and rocket systems. Someone needs some quality control.

Panzer,

Based on my research, I feel its easy for someone to make this kind of mistake. The first time I caught this issues, on the M1A2 SEP TUSK II, I had to search a lot of photo's before I found the ones that made it clear. In most, its really hard to tell where the CROWS is mounted. A lot of times, it appears that they got it right. However, its hard to tell from the angle the photo was shot.

For the M1A2 SEP TUSK II, I just left the CROWS off and filled the mounting hole with super glue.. Then as I rock myself quietly in the corner and tell myself that the box on the top of the turret, that GHQ used to mount the CROWS, is not really there while I slowly wait for the tears to dry on my cheek.. LOL. With the TAIWAN M1A2s, I might do the same thing, just ignore the mounting box between the two turrets and fill in the hole. However, since the hatch where it goes does not have the Gun shield on it.. I might figure out how to mount the CROWS system there and then, I might be able to do the same for the SEP v3. The SEP v3 Turret seems to have the mounting bracket over the top of the optics on that side.. So it could actually look good with the CROWS system installed...

We rarely get what we need, but its what we do with what we have that matters.
