Wow!

That is just beautiful terrain. That really inspires to do better with the terrain.

Tammy, the last picture is closest to the actual colors. I'm still trying to figure out my camera and lighting for the photos.

New Normandy Bocage Board

Post by Bezmozgu7 »

I just completed 45 new Terrain Maker Bocage and hedge hexes for a game I will run on 22 Feb featuring paratroopers of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion defending against a probing attack on 8 June '44 by the German 857th Grenadier Regiment near the Le Mesnil crossroads. I hope you enjoy the photos of the new board.

Really nice work Cama! What will you use for rubble on the damaged buildings? Cheers,

Hi all

I finished this Nuclear missile silo a few weeks ago. Its great for cold war games. :D

The plan was to enhance the model by adding a discreet entrance way and have the silo hidden inside a forest.

The base model with GHQ T55 for scale
Image

Next I painted the silo and started on the base. It was a bit of MDF I have cut for something else so I'm using it for this. Its a bit cramped but I don't want to make the base too big. The idea with the base is that it will have a tunnel leading into the ground towards the silo and slightly uneven ground (hence the polystrene pieces). Also it will be mostly covered with trees to hide the silo.

I also dug out some sandbags I made a few years ago and a shed but i might use a different one as its pretty big. Also I scratch built an entrance way from Plasticard.

Base texture added

With a couple of different types of flock added

Some of the entrance way details

All done and with lots of trees added!

I hope you guys liked it. Its something I must add to my site as well.

Cheers

Kieran,
Excellent work and inspiring! I have a number of WWII Westwall bunkers and emplacements to do in a similar fashion. Greatly appreciate the process steps and tips. Cheers,
Bez

6mmwargaming,

That is excellent work! I do have a question, referring to the first picture -- the one with the T-55 in the picture for scale reference.

Did you make a master for this, then cast it in resin? That's what it looks like to me. And if you did do that, you could probably go into "business" for yourself and make some extra money on the side!

Once again -- VERY well done!

Tom Stockton

Tom,

I can actually answer that one... I made the master and then cast it in resin. I released that product several months ago and it's been pretty popular so far. The one that Kieran did is the first one I've seen finished other than the one I finished.

Here's mine. I added a missile ... that's not part of the kit.

Hello Comrades, Just read the full page, That's some funny funny stuff. So i guess this question is for you Allen Rockwell. Would like to know what material you use to make your molds and what resin you use for the finish products. Also would like the name of the company and the address from which you buy the material ? Well Later Comrades have a nice day . Ivan ( still laughing ) :D

Ivan,

That sort of info kinda falls under the "trade secret" category. I've spent a lot of time and money trying different mold materials and resins till I came across one system that meets my quality standards and produces miniatures to my liking. I'm not in a big hurry to give that information away, especially on a forum full of talented people that could impact my business :) There are a lot of resin cast miniatures on the market today made with inferior quality resin and I'm proud to say that mine are not made from that cheap stuff.

But none of it is really "secret" ,,, a little searching around the Internet and you can find many sources of mold material and casting resins and you can decide for yourself which one will work best for you.

Sorry I'm not much help... as much as I love what I do and it's also my hobby, it's still a business and I've gotta put food on the table at the end of the day :)
