Re: Gazza's Stuff
Well my German crosses arrived today. I cut them into three strips (one for each of the 3 sizes). And then counted and measured them (279 x 1mm, 252 x 1.25mm, 192 x 1.5mm). I then went to Dan's website (as I wasn't 100% sure of the 1.25mm size as my ruler only has half mm increments) and found that he had stated the number and sizes of the crosses (although he's mixed up his mm and cm as he has them at 0.1mm, 0.12mm, and 0.15mm - they're not that small.
So, time to get back to those Elefants and supports...

LOL Sorry about that! I use the 2-finger key search method of typing, and sometimes the fingers just get away from me!

Re: Gazza's Stuff
I mentioned that I was thinking of using some stowage to cover up a ruined decal. I ended up applying a Third Reich flag decal to a piece of thin foil (maybe from a KitKat) along with a couple of coats of Micro Set and Micro Sol. I then folded it up a bit and applied it to the ELefant with some PVA glue. Here's a couple of images.

Looking good, Gazza! I need to add a few aerial recognition flags to a few of my vehicles. I have the flags but need to put them on at some point.

Re: Gazza's Stuff
Thanks guys - the things you do to cover up a mistake...
Various ongoing 'projects'
German Funnies
The Bergepanther + flakvierling for 653 and a couple of platoons for 21st Panzer.

Communications are important
A couple of PzKpfw II Ausf L plus the first four (of 12) SdKfz 251/03 with aerials added.

More Hanomags

The final four

Panzer Grenadier PHQ options #1
Five per company. One for each of the three 'line' platoons. The other two are for the MG section of the support platoon.

Another PzGr PHQ option
This gives me 5 different vehicles that I can use for the PHQs of my armoured panzer gtrenadier battalion. A standard SdKfz 251/1, a SdKfz 251/10, and three SdKfz 251/17 variants. Almost certainly a bit overboard

No pictures but I'm also in the process of making some of my usual card storage boxes. This time for the Elefants (etc) of 653 and various 21st Panzer units.

Re: Gazza's Stuff
I've finally gave my Jordanian recce a coat of matt varnish before popping them off the matchsticks.
Jordanian recce next to Jordanian infantry battalion
The recce is a rather lighter sand (the difference is more pronounced IRL) - but never mind.

Front of Jordanian infantry batalion

M48 Battalion - next in line for the Jordanians

21st Panzer Division, 2nd Panzer Battalion
Just before D-Day the 2nd battalion retired their French tanks in anticipation of receiving Panthers. The invasion interfered with this plan and as such they were limited to just a few Panzer IVs (mostly Ausf H but a few Ausf B/C/Ds) formed into a single company.

Jordanian M48 Battalion
Base Coat
Although I had previously gave the BHQ and first company a base coat and a wash, I decided to go over them so everthing was on an equal footing.

Wash Applied
I ran out of the Seraphim Sepia wash towards the end and had to open a new pot of the stuff. This was rather thinner than the old pot (probably because it hadn't evaporated over time). The rightmost column and the bottom 3 tanks of the adjoining column are the ones affected.

Base Coat Drybrushed Over Wash
That new pot of the Seraphim Sepia wash has dried rather lighter than that of the old pot. I may do some pin washes later if at the end the tanks look too different to the others.

To be continued...

Re your flag material... I like the foil used to wrap Mozart Kugeln most of all for use in modeling both for 1/285th and 1/35th scales. Very thin - be gentle when unwrapping the candy.

Not a candy (or sweet over here) that I'm aware of. That said, I do tend to horde anything that 'may come in useful one day'.panzergator wrote: ↑Sun Aug 06, 2023 12:06 amRe your flag material... Re: Gazza's Stuff
Lost out on a day's painting yesterday trying to sort out a mate's pc - lot's of corrupt system files and such.
Anyway, today I've applied the disruptive green camo to the M48s. The late afternoon sunlight is giving it a rather lighter appearance than it actually has. Iraqi Sand drybrush next.

<edit> A new photo after closing the blinds.

Coming along nicely, Gazza! At some point, I may do some Jordanians but still have lots of Israelis and Egyptians to do first. I would love to see GHQ do some Israeli and Jordanian Infantry for the 1967 to 1973 time frame.

Re: Gazza's Stuff
Thank you.
The kit is, of course, rather similar to the Israelis - although it always seems to be a 'mark' behind. For example, if the Israelis fielded Centurions with the 105mm gun then the Jordanians would have Centurions still with the 20pdr.At some point, I may do some Jordanians but still have lots of Israelis and Egyptians to do first.
I'm rather of a cheapskate and intend to use WW2 British infantry for my Jordanians. At 6mm my eyesight's not up to relling the difference between a Lee-Enfield and a M1 Garand for example.I would love to see GHQ do some Israeli and Jordanian Infantry for the 1967 to 1973 time frame.
