Thanks gentlemen.
I'm adding now the remainder of Hipper's squadron, SMS Derfflinger and SMS Lützow, the flagship, that was also the only battlecruiser lost by Germany at Jutland.
Hipper's ships forming into line of battle, afternoon of May 31st 1916.
A last pic, illustrating the evolution of the German Battlecruisers between 1909 and 1913 (launch dates of Von der Tann and Lützow) :Ships grow in size, number of guns, or caliber as unlike their predecessors, armed with 11" guns, Lützow and Derfflinger sported a 12" main battery. Interestingly too, the emphasis Germany placed on secondary guns, to repel torpedo boats and destroyers.
Those are all great looking ships, Foxbat! Both the WWI and the WWII look excellent. One of these days I will get back to painting some of my ships but my tanks keep calling me right now.
Thanks, Pete. I'm looking forward to seeing these, as you are a huge source of inspiration for me.
Meanwhile, see what recently arrived in the mail, I'm just about to switch sides and build Beatty
Those are just some of what I have already, Foxbat! I know you will definitely do them justice.
Seeing as you are working on the British Royal Navy and the German High Seas Fleet, here are a few of mine that I painted for GHQ a while back.
(For further inspiration, of course) LOL!
German CL Stuttgart
HMS Neptune
HMS Indefatigable - This was one of the first GHQ WWI ships that I painted and is still in my collection. I loaned it to GHQ for the photo.
Thanks a lot! I have indeed used your outstanding work a lot as a source of inspiration, though I have other a few other sources. For instance, I'm working on the "pocket battleship " Admiral Scheer (back to WW2! ). I really like what you did on its 1940 version, but having read a good book on the Arctic theatre, I have opted for its 1942 appearance during Operation Wunderland (quite a fascinating episode, IMO)

The Giussano class Bande Nere, a light cruiser whose max armor was 24mm... less than on a Panzer III D
Idea was to be able to catch the ultra fast (40 knots) big French DDs. Needless to say, all 4 ships of the class had been sunk by 1942...
