Thanks Redleg. These two ships where originally Full hull models I had to change them in the slicer to turn them into Waterline models but overall I’m happy how well these turned out in 1/2400 scale.

I am very pleased to announce that the DD-214 project is complete! I’m not sure exactly when I started the project, but it has been several years now. The last unit to be completed was 2nd BCT / 1st ID, as I knew it in 2003. The brigade consists of 1-18 Infantry, 1-26 Infantry, 1-77 Armor, 1-7 Field Artillery, E Troop / 4th Cavalry (BRT), and a lone Bradley for the brigade commander.

For this project I didn’t do any support vehicles – just the killing stuff. For the mech and tank battalions that’s the tanks and Brads, 10 HMMWVs for the scout platoon, the mortar platoon, and 3 command tracks for the battalion TOC. The FA battalion has the 6 guns, 6 FAASVs, and 2 FDC tracks for each battery, plus 2 command tracks for the battalion TOC and 9 FIST-Vs for the fire support teams. The BRT has 18 HMMWVs for the scout and COLT platoons.

The ”Dagger Brigade” has a total of 258 vehicles (210 tracks and 48 wheels).

The DD-214 project includes the 4 brigade combat teams that I served in: 2 BCT / 40th ID (1995), 2nd BCT / 2nd ID (1998), 3rd BCT / 4th ID (1999), and 2nd BCT / 1st ID (2003). Overall there are 1,180 models (816 tracks, 146 wheels, and 218 infantry stands). That includes 204 tanks (M60s and M1s), 312 IFVs / APCs (M113s and Brads), and 72 howitzers.

I was going to do a full layout for the whole project, but it was hard enough to get pics of just this last brigade!

Awesome! Congratulations getting the ‘Hunter-killer’ elements pulled together.
The M901, 9 of them, those are serving as FIST-V? Correct?

MASTERFUL, Redleg. Just absolutely MASTERFUL! Loved seeing this. You must do more pics. Use a textured spray paint to approximate the motor pool pads. Draw in the expansion seams in the concrete. I've had some luck with that.

I think Panzer summed it the best... Absolutely Masterful.. Its always impressive to see an entire formation of micro armor formed up on the parade ground. I feel there is no other scale that offers ability to have this many pieces in a reasonable space and still see significant detail in each piece. You may not ever be able to get the entire unit on the board, but its nice to know you have them. Well Done Redleg.

Thank you for the encouragement, Fellas! I will definitely re-visit the motor pool project and see if I can get that wrapped up soon. This project is done, but I've got several more that I need to get working on!

Hey Chris, yes the M901 is serving as the M981 FIST-V. The only external difference is the face of the hammerhead. The ITV has 3 holes (2 missiles and a sight) and he FIST-V has 2 holes for the G/VLLD. Other than that they are externally identical.....I think....I have never been in or on an M901 but I have spent many, many, many hours with the FIST-V and the G/VLLD.

I was thinking, you could fill in the two launch tubes with puddy or super glue so the are filled. Leave the center stuff open. Not sure I have some M901s. I have to look. I might just have the lav ones

Mike, thank you for the update.
The FIST-V are/can be doled out so that each company receives one?
In games … many years ago we/I would use GHQ M901 as an M901, use CinC M901 as the FIST-V..
.
BTW, you should not use USMC Hummvs for Army Hummvs.
I am deducting two points from you for each!! An egregious violation!

M981 FIST-Vs also had the flotation splash board rather than the flat one carried on the M901. At least, all the ones I ever saw did...

I did not know that about the splash board! I'm always learning new stuff on here!

Chris, the fire support teams are (at least in my day) part of the direct support artillery battalion, and they are attached to the infantry and tank companies so that each company has one fire support team. They have a habitual relationship - each company generally has the same team so that they can build good working relationships. The COLT / Striker platoon was different though in that it had 6 fire support teams that were a brigade asset.

There are exceptions of course, but one team for each company is usually what happens.

Excellent display of the armoured fist there Mike. This is what makes 6mm the scale that works.
