I'm re-posting this for GHQ in order to see if this is feasible.
I'd like to know what the feasibility would be of releasing upgrade packs for different superstructure configurations. For example, the Trento and Trieste are sold in their 1930's peacetime configuration. I'd like to see a release of their wartime configurations with the modernized funnel caps.
Results of my guesses for 2018-2019 Micronaut releases
GHQ has announced their new releases for the coming year. I had a couple of good guesses and quite a few failures.
As they have for several years GHQ announced the release of twelve Micronauts this year. I had predicted four each of modern, WWII, and WWI types. Instead they listed five WWII and only three WWI, as they did last year).
WWI era releases: GHQ has already provided a fairly good collection of German and British ships of this era (although there are still a pre-Dreadnaught battleship, the Renown-class battlecruisers, several cruisers, and plenty of destroyers yet to be produced). Last year, GHQ introduced Italian WWI series with the Doria and Cavour battleships. For other countries for which GHQ has produced WWI ships (Austria-Hungary, France, Russia, and the USA) there are diminishing good choices.
My predictions for Great War releases were:
- UK battlecruiser Renown-class
- France pre-Dreadnought battleship Charlemagne-class (three in the class, all at the Dardanelles). The armored cruiser Edgar Quinet-class is my backup choice.
- Italy battleship Dante Alighieri (only a single ship but with unique appearance)
- Italy destroyer Indomito-class.
I got none of these correct. About the only success I had here was in predicting two Italian and one UK type.
My four selections in the era of WWII were:
- USS Lexington (CV-2) as she appeared at Coral Sea (most notably; four twin 8-inch guns replaced by seven quadruple 1.1-inch anti-aircraft guns. As a backup, I think the UK Vindex-class escort carriers might appear – it’s been a while since a new model of a WWII British carrier has appeared.
- USS Idaho (BB-42) as she appeared in 1945 at Iwo Jima and Okinawa with individual enclosed 5â€/38 gun mounts. My alternate is a late-war Fuso.
- French heavy cruiser Duquesne class. My second choice in this area are the Dido class cousins Scylla and Charybdis.
- UK V & W-class long-range escort conversion.
I did fairly well on these, getting two out of four (or five) correct.
My predictions for modern Micronauts were:
- China Type 071 (Yuzhao)-class amphibious transport
- US amphibious transport America (LHA-6)-class
- UK aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth (R08)
- Russia frigate Admiral Gorshkov (Project 22350)-class
The only one I guessed correctly here was the Type 071.
All in all, not so bad. Even with radar-range finding, late WWII ships never got close to hitting with 25% of their shells.
CG2 was close with a prediction of the Italian San Giorgio class cruisers in WWI.
michaelw43 matched my correct WWII predictions and also indicated that there would be five releases for the era.
For modern types only, whenimaginationfails correctly predicted Type 071 and Akizuki.
Hope this has amused everyone.

Hello guys, would be possible to convert a Tribal Class destoryer model into its Post war Canadian DDE modernization IE HMCS Haida? as that would be cool to see as a 1/2400 scale mini.
I use Imgur for my photos too. To embed them you open the photo i Imgur, select the size you want in the lower right corner, and then you copy the text from the box labeled BBCode (message boards & forums).
Paste that text into your GHQ and make sure you uncheck the box marked "Disable BBCode in this post" in the GHQ forum posting screen.[/u]
Thanks redleg for the compliment and help with posting a picture. I'm going to have to play with it. I followed your instructions but it still isn't working.
Update- I figured out how to post but resizing is another issue.
Many of the supposedly accurate paint chips available are way too dark for this scale, or probably any model, being virtually indistinguishable from black when on the table. US 5-N Navy blue for example. If you use the supposedly accurate paint colors, how much do you fade it to get a reasonable look on the game table?
Been looking at lots of ww2 photos (black & white) and comparing ship brightness to that of surrounding water. The darker colors seem fairly close in brightness to that of the sea..
How do you guys deal with this? Lighten the “accurate color†or just pick one you think looks appropriate?

This is something that I decided a long time go to just go with what looks appropriate. Even color photos from the time can be deceiving. I mostly only paint Italian and German ships and the German ships cause me the most headaches. At any rate, you might want to compare paint jobs that others have done of the ships you are interested in. There are a lot right here on this thread. Good luck!

the February ships are out, and there's only March for this cycle, so it's time to start thinking/making wild guesses of what ships may be coming out next year.
I suspect that the WWI range may include another Italian ship or two. GHQ hasn't put out an Italian pre-dreadnought yet, and the last Italian class - with single gun main turrets - would be interesting. Also, their first dreadnought ship. Other possibilities, as I see it, would be a San Marco/San Giorgio class ship, and maybe another DD class. GHQ put out more than one class of pre-dreadnought in their Russian and French lines, so there's possibilities there.
Other than the Italians, I'm not sure what GHQ might add to their WWI line. There are always DDs; on the other hand, the time can't be too far off when they will begin to add Japanese ships to their selection.
For WWII, there's always more UK cruisers to do; the modern Scylla and Uganda classes, for example, and lots of "C" class varieties. CinC has had several pretty good UK wartime DD classes, but if they're going out of business GHQ may want to pick up the slack.
If GHQ wants to put out its yearly CV class, the only ones left that I can think of are the Japanese Unryu class and the UK Implacable (is that the right name?) class. Any others on anyone's list.
I don't know if GHQ wants to produce the E-boats, which have been at the top of Donald's "wanted" list for a long time. OTOH, there's been so many votes for them for so long that GHQ risks losing customers to strokes when they don't see e-boats on the next yearly list of productions.
I have no idea what might be likely for modern ships. Wiser minds will have to look into that line.
