I don't have a picture to post but...

Take a sheet of clear plastic. Spray one side brown. Turn it over and build up dikes using balsa painted dark brown covered with dark brown dirt by Woodland Scenics. After you let the balsa dikes dry you can add lines of green grass or scatter very small tufts of foam over the surface. You can leave the dikes brown or add some weeds. An 8.5 X 11 sheet of clear plastic makes a couple of rice paddies. Several sheets placed side by side or end to end give you a pretty good scale area. Be careful not to spray dullcoat on the shiny side of the plastic sheet since the water in a paddy always has a shine to it, even in the dark. Elmers glue works for making the planting lines if you are careful and use a small brush.

We used 1/8" plexiglas the same way for 20mm or 25mm paddies.

Excellent! I knew there was a good use for those sheets of plastic that come in some figure packs I get. I can get this going this weekend. I have an excellent paint color for some of these things, called Mississipi Mud that I use for European soil on bases, while I use a redish brown for Vietnam soil on many things. I think the dark muddy color would work well for this. Thanks.

Mortar barges by Pibber

Post by pibber »

Hi all ! :D

one photo of my two heavy mortar barges (scratchbuild).
Mortars come from Vietnam heavy US weapons.
Servants are from US WWII artillery men.
Barges are scratchbuilding in sheet styrene.

How do you people have the time to do all of this incredible work? I was lucky enough to have the time to glue MGs on the turrets of five M-109A6 Paladins I recently acquired, and I count that as major victory!
