Redleg, I admire you for getting the painting done for your troops so quickly. Good job!

Hi. Mike Robel Here! And I'm finally in. I've enjoyed reading this thread for the last year.

Now instead of asking PanzerGator to post for me, I can do it myself!!!!!! :)

Lots of good work here. My painting is not so good as many of yours and my collection is not (and will not) be as extensive, but it is expanding a bit so I can model D Company and B Troop/1/11 ACR and my tank companies as TM C/1-34 AR, TM A/4-37AR, and TM C/2-37 AR which were in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Brigades of the 1st ID, respectively,

I'm really more of a cardboard counter gamer, but I have played some minatures games in the past. I still have micro armor from when I used the to illustrate how I wanted to do things in my platoons and companies I commanded as well as when, as a more senior officer, I would use them to illustrate my observations of units I evaluated.

I also build plastic models of Space Boosters and spacecraft, Armor, Naval Vessels (Have some Micronauts, too), and airplanes, as well as reading lots of military history. As PanzerGator mentioned, I work on DoD simulations and I do a little bit of game design of my own.

Hi Mike. Good to have you on here. Some here have bigger collections than us, some have huge collections (Chris, we're looking in your direction), but you should definitely post pics of your stuff as you can. Even if you think your painting isn't as good as some on here, we'd still love to see your stuff. I look for inspiration on here all the time and these guys are amazing. I look forward to seeing your forces.

I concur. Post what you got!

My next big project (after the ACR) is to build 2nd brigade / 1st ID as I knew her in 2003. It will be cool to see what she looked like at other times when you post some pics of your 4/37 AR!

I was actually in the 2nd Brigade Twice as the S-3Air and A/4-37 - Assassins, in 83-84 and in 91-92 as the brigade S-4

Mike, I was the XO of. A/4-37AR when it was at Fort Knox. We provided tanks for the students of the Armor School. Got a lot of practice in tank recovery for that one. My motor sergeant had once been n an Army muleskinner! He was also a damned good motor sergeant!

LOL. I love those crusty old NCOs that all claim to have been a road guard for the three wise men! Those guys had tons of knowledge and experience. And they usually said the most memorable and colorful things when yelling at you!

I was in 1st ID in Germany. G3 Plans at division HQ from 2001-2003 and then 1-7 FA from 2003-2005. I was the FSO for 1-26 IN for most of 2003. Best job I ever had in my life! At that point, 2nd BCT was 1-18 IN, 1-26 IN, 1-77 AR, 1-7 FA, 9th EN, and 299th FSB. Plus our BRT, ADA battery, MI company, and SIG company.

2nd BCT / 1st ID is my next project. My next next project is 2nd brigade / 40th ID (CAARNG). I was in the CA guard way way way back in college so that brigade will be next. We had 4-160 IN (M113), 2-185 AR (M60A3) and 3-185 AR (M60A3). I will most definitely need your guys' assistance with those M60 units!

Redleg, good approach. I find defining your units helps determine your purchase priorities, particularly if you keep it at brigade level.

Small world, Mike! That was a couple of years before me though - i graduated from San Diego State in 1997. My wife is from Riverside so we decided to settle here. I really like the area, I just wish that there were more wargamers here!
