JB,
Yes, the items I have reported as being the best examples of track and armored trains are Heroics & Ros, NAVWAR now...

buying trains
Where can i find 1/285th scale model trains??
I have set aside a space of 25 feet by 35 feet and i intend to convert it all into a super diorama. It will be a winter project i suppose, especially since i have boat loads of models to paint. but i really would like armored trains to complement my forces!!!! i have seen many pictures, but cannot find an active distributor. can anyone help???

There are no 1/285th scale trains available from any manufacturer...
If you visit this link http://theminiaturespage.com/ you can go to the Manufacturer's page and visit the sites of the two named in the post above your post to see what they have available.

Just seen that PaperTerrain have started doing a 1/285th set of track and rolling stock at:
http://www1.buyitsellit.com/StoreFront/ ... t&id=40808
Might be good - not too expensive either.

There was a company by the name of Vac-U-Cast that produced a line of 1/285th scale resin Armored Trains. Unfortunately they are no longer in business as of June of this year. I had purchased some before then. You may be able to find some online. Though they are no longer accepting orders there are a few pics on their website. I figure since it is no longer in business that it would be ok to post the link. A good reference as to what a Armored Train looks like. Robert

Just google "Bandai zz scale" and you will find sources from which you can purchase working 1/300 scale train sets. There are no 1/285th scale trains available from any manufacturer...
But they are rather basic. You get one train, typically of an engine and three or four cars, an oval of track, and one or two accessories (a bridge, or a crossing gate, etc ... a different accessory with each set).
They (Bandai) make four or five different sets, each a well-known train line in Japan. All passenger lines IIRC. Not exactly universal appeal, but the trains are close enough to what would be seen in Europe that you can probably get by ... and with a little paint, they might even come out looking pretty good.

Has anyone gotten any of the train offerings from Leva Productions? What is the quality of the castings?
I agree with GHQ making trains in 1/285th scale. During WW2 the Japanese had two armored trains that they used in Manchuria. It would be great to see these made!

As was noted above, PaperTerrain does, indeed produce 1/285th scale trains.

Hopefully in the future we will also offer armored trains.
