June 4, 1942 Battle of Midway
June 4, 1944. At 0330 meeting with IKE and Group Capt Stagg, DDay is postponed a day to the 6th of June
June 5, Rome falls to Allies
The original day that was planned for D-Day. Ships leave ports heading to Normandy, France.
The airborne take off see the ships in the channel.
June 6, 1944 About midnight or just after, 2 US Airborne divisions land scattered all over nNormandy.Brits go in gliders to Pegasus Brigde.
5 beaches start to receive allied soldiers. By midnight June 6, 170,000 soldiers have landed in France.
Thank you for serving America and the world. Thank you for your sacrifice.

Great pics.
Every June, I think of the young men that helped liberate Europe from German occupation. The amount of planning, logistical planning and keeping that plan of attack secret. The soldiers crossing the channel and running into harms way storming the beaches. Those that jumped out of planes at night into a land they did not know. Those that landed in gliders at night seizing objectives and told to hold until reinforcements arrive. Never knowing when or if that would happen.
My grandfather served with the US Army in Europe and saw combat. I often think of him and what he saw and went through… Sadly, when I was young and would ask him, he never wanted to talk about it. What a collection of memories that would have been.
