Everybody is up-gunning for the next gen vehicles. Russians are going to 57mm, I think, for their infantry carriers, or at least, claim to be. US at least 30mm. Don't know where Russkis will find room for both 57mms ammo AND dismounts unless the go to much bigger vehicles.

It shoots the same ammo as the GAU 8 on the A10!

To answer the last question first, 81 systems is not making anybody a lot of money in corporate terms.

The 25mm is still and effective round, but the gun-armor race probably dictates going to 40-57mm. Armor is improving.

While the vehicle could probably support a LAV-25 turret and maybe even a BFV turret, particularly if you take the TOW launcher off, the turret basket would reduce the number of dismounts you can carry. A LAV-25 can only carry 4, a BFV 6 or 7. They want the squad to be 9 guys, plus you need room for other people in the platoon.

The guns is reported to have 70% parts commonality with the M242 25mm Bushmaster and can easily be upgraded to 40mm by changing parts.

So this thread has compelled me to part with some of my hard earned, OK taxpayer provided cash, to buy enough Strykers of various configurations to outfit a reinforced SICB rifle company. Good thing GHQ had their Historicon Not sale going on. 15% off gave me basically two free packs!

I also bought some Kiowa Warriors which I will re-arm using Redleg's great work as inspiration for MG/Rocket armed Air Cav Warriors.

Well I did it. I finally pulled the trigger on enough pieces to complete a Stryker Brigade Combat Team weapons troop. That is 9 Stryker ATs and 12 Stryker MGs. They should be here next week. Thanks to Paul from Florida, I am hooked on buying complete units. In the future I will use them in a game.. Maybe holding some cross roads or something. Anyway, will share pics once I got them painted up.

I like complete units, too. Nice and neat and OCD.

OCD, indeed. Once complete units were introduced, I was doomed. I thought my group was going to play GHQ alot, so I thought I would by enough units that I would command in a game.....since they don't, I started building complete units.

Thanks Mike.
So this 30mm system has no basket into the cabin, since no decrease in dismounts.
Basically a remote add on, is that correct?

Correct. It'sa remote mount, but the crew can reload from inside. It takes away one overhead hatch.

Finally! I was wondering when I could start kit-bashing my GHQ with my Renegade Legion grav tanks!
