Guess the ACW Battle
It was suggested by Tom Stockton that I post these pics here as you can see above. With that in mind, I will post three pics of my 10mm ACW set ups. See if you can guess which battles they represent. Have fun! Here is the first one.

Bill,
Very nice work, both on the models and the terrain!
Although I don't model the era and scale, I sure do enjoy looking at the fine handiwork of those who do!!
"You guys" tempt me to start dabbling here, too... as if I didn't have enough hobby interests already"

AND JUST FOR FUN
This shot is from a Micro Armor game I did at Historicon 2003. It is based upon a Spearhead Scenario from the Rising Star scenario book. We called the game "A Cold Day in Hell". We gave away a victory point if the players could identify three scenes built into the terrain from that cheesy classic "The Battle of the Bulge". They had to give us the quote from the main character in the scene to receive the point. Here is the best one with the pic we used on the scenario playsheets. Enjoy!

Miffster,
Excellent work on the Panthers. Creating dioramas is no easy task. I've tried it and, well, it's nice to know it can be done properly.
How were you able to the holes without damaging the models? I've tried it with a Dremel hand tool which isn't easy. Sometimes the bit skids across the turret which totally destroys the thing. Granted these are then turned into permanently destroyed vehicles, but it's getting to be a drag.

I had one of those Dremels for a while. They are great, but when working in this scale they certainly lack finesse!
I have a pin vice and drill them out by hand. I mark the centre of the hatch with a spike - a large needle will do - and then drill them out taking care to keep the bit square to the turret top. That's it.
A pin vice over this side of the pond will only cost a couple of quid, so I shouldn't think it would cost you more than five of your US dollars. They are a handy thing to have. I don't know if you do anything in larger scales, but they are great to make tow ropes with. Put one end of a bundle of wires in the pin vice and lock the other in the chuck of your dremel. One quick buzz and there you have it - a perfect tow rope.
Hope it helps - post some pictures if you can. I like to see diaramas.

Naw, ya just need to post MORE pictures like that! Very nice, indeed! But try to get two or three pics of the scene up next time. We need MORE, MORE, MORE!Mickel wrote: It's a start. I need to finish off some of the more interesting looking paint jobs.

Here are some AMX-30s I painted up a while ago.

I painted the mufflers rust; some photos and illustrations showed them that way, others did not. I thought it added needed color to the model. Anyone have any thoughts on how common it would be for vehicles in the field to have rust like that?
Thanks,
Pat Callahan
