Yellowknife weather
Mainly cloudy. Wind up to 15 km/h. High minus 18. Wind chill minus 32 this morning and minus 25 this afternoon. Risk of frostbite.
Tonight, cloudy. Light snow beginning late this evening. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low minus 21. Wind chill near minus 28. Risk of frostbite.

The mornings crisp communal nature walk around the local area, aprox 4 kms is on NATO Planks so a lot quicker than yesterday.
This mornings talk had hot tea, coffee and Timmies on hand. The quick chat covered basic emergency shelters (the snow is your friend) and cold weather first aid. Nothing new, all just a reminder of how to use the local environment.

Now off to the competition!

After two days battling the brutal Cold out in the Wilderness outside of CFB Yellowknife as part of the Arctic Patrol base course. Only one infantry platoon comes out on top, and that infantry platoon is (based on a 1D6 roll.)

NC: 49th Loyal Edmonton Regiment/A Platoon.

This concludes the End of the First Annual Arctic training event. However since all of the units did equally well throughout this event, they all receive the Arctic Warrior Badge.

The KDF would like to thank NC for hosting the Arctic training event. It is always interesting see how others operate and view Winter warfare training.
We look forward to more cooperation and understanding in the future.

After a week spent out on her sea trials. The Prototype Type 26 frigate HMCS Wapiti River has returned to CFB Halifax to where she will be laid up until the results of her sea trials are compiled by the RCN and the NCAF Department of Acquisitions. If approved by the Department, series production of the Type 26 can begin once a shipyard is selected to produce the class.

If the Prototype Type 26 frigate HMCS Wapiti River sinks, she will not pass? If she floats, she does!

The Sea trials is meant to test out how the ship performs from high speeds, to basic manoeuvres, and weapon tests minus the NSM missile, as those won't be available for quite some time. All that data collected from the tests is given to the bureaucrats at the Department of Acquisitions for Processing, then determine if its viable for the navy, and send out their recommended changes to the design to the shipyards they will delegate too, to produce the Type 26 class.

in anticipation of the approval and eventual commissioning of the Type 26 frigate, alot of older ships of the St Laurant, Mackenzie, and Restigoche classes are being retired by the RCN, so their names will be transfered to the new ships once completed. The NCAF Department of Acquisitions selects the Halifax shipyard and the Prince Rupert Seaspan to produce the Type 26 frigate, once the sea trial data has been finished compiling, and blue prints will be mailed out, with their recommended changes to the design. The department also orders the shipyards to build these ships the fastest they could to meet the Departments Quota of 15 ships for the RCN.
